At Least We Had a Happy Parting

Chapter Sixteen

Loki's POV

       I don't want to wake up. I don't want to get out of bed. It's my fault Rose is gone. I have nothing left. I'm alone.

"Loki? My son I know your awake." My mother runs her hand through my hair. "You need to get up. You can't keep staying like this." I lift my head up to see her smile. She always calmed me. But I do not deserve to be calm. I killed my love. "She's not dead." I furrow my brows.

"What?"

"Eir healed her. She's not dead. Last night you kept repeating that you killed her. That isn't true. She is sleeping." I sat up.

"What"

"Your mind must have made you think you killed her. But she isn't dead. You created an illusion in your crisis." I stood up and ran to the healers. Not bothering to stop for my mother's calls. How is she not dead. I remember her dying. This must be a game. Someone is tricking me.

       I ran into the healers room to see Rose laying on a bed, breathing. Thank the Allfather. I ran to her bed, lifted her up and laid her down on my chest. She's mine. I'll never let her go. I feel her heart beating against my chest, following mine perfectly. Her chests rises and falls as a healthy persons should. She is just asleep. Eir walks up to me.

"You gave me quite a scare last night..... You love her don't you?" I nodded. "Love at first sight?" I shrugged. "There is nothing out of the ordinary with her. She just needs rest, I don't know how much though. You saved her by bringing her to my as fast as you did." But it was my fault. "She is healthy enough to be moved if you wish to take her back to her room." I nodded, lifting Rose into my arms and walked to her courtiers. Under no circumstances will I bring her to mine. She might relive the event and fall prey to her emotions again. We will never step foot back into that room.

     We stepped in to her rooms and I laid her down on her bed. I then summoned a book and began reading. This was all my fault.

"Loki you have to lift the curse on Sgyin. It will cause trouble if she stays like that."
"I'll do it but you must ban her from Asgard."

"You did no such thing. She knows this is what happens. It is normal for her to sleep."
"For 3 months?!"

"Rose. I've come close to undoing the curse. I think Ive found the answer. I'm so close I can feel it."

"Go away. We're fine. We want to be alone."

"I've found it. I found the counter curse. I can set you free. Rose. I can make you healthy again!"

"Son. What are you.... you can't. Son. You aren't thinking."
"I have to. It's my fault she is this way. I have to heal her. I need her back."
"I know. It's destroying you to see her like that. But you can't do something as reckless as dark magic."
"Mother please. I need her. I don't care what happens to me. She needs to wake."
"No. I will not let you destroy yourself. You are my son."

"Dark magic is dark magic no matter what the purpose it's used for."
"There soulmates. Loki is not in his right mind. Please"
"There are rules. No matter who breaks them. If he is practicing he must be executed."
"Odin. My love. Please. He's our son. He isn't thinking. You know how smart Loki is. He would never think of using it unless he can't think. He's broken. Please."
"Frigga..... fine. Dungeon for the rest of his life."
"Odin."
"Frigga. I've already been lenient I will not waver again."

"What have you done? What did you do!"
"You're not yourself."

"Son. Please talk to me...... I'm sorry I put you here....... you weren't thinking straight.....Loki. My son."
"I'm not your son.... do you hate me."

"Then why don't you let me save her. I was so close."
"Because you would have destroyed yourself and where would that leave me."

"I'm sorry my Queen. She is the same. Her body needs to heal. She went through a strenuous ordeal. It takes a toll on the body."
"But. It's been."
"I know. It might take another year until she wakes. But we don't know anything."

"Mother. How long has it been?... time seems not existent down here."
"We are almost on our second year my son."
"It's all my fault. She'll die in her sleep. I've killed her. It's my fault."
"No. Loki stop that. She will wake. She will be fine."
"Eir says she had years left and now because of me she is spending them in her sleep."
"Loki. We both know you didn't mean it. Sgyin tricked and threatened you."
"I shouldn't have been with Sgyin in the first place.... this was all my fault. I'm a horrible person."

"Odin. Let him see her. He's losing his mind."
"For life Frigga."
"Odin. If she dies.... Loki needs to see her before that happens. He needs her."
"Frigga....."
"Our son needs her. He won't eat. He won't sleep. Odin. Please."
"He's not to leave his cell."
"Odin..... what if I move her into his cell? Surely you will allow that."
"Don't you fear he will hurt her since you say he has lost his mind?"
"She is his soulmate Odin. He will care for her."
"This is on your hands now. If something goes wrong."
"I take full responsibility."

"Guards. Put another bed in Loki's cell and move his bookshelf from his room into the cell also."
"Yes my Queen."

"Thor. Help me carry Rosalina."

"Loki. I have a suprise."
"Why is she here. She needs to be resting."
"I've talked to Odin and he agreed to let her stay with you."
"Really?"
"Yes my son."

       She still looks beautiful. I can't believe Odin would agree with this. Mother probably begged him. He never does anything for me without mother's influence. I finally have her. She's so beautiful. I'll never leave her. I won't let her leave me. She can't. We have barely begun our marriage. I want to take her on adventures. I want to show her the nine realms. She can't leave me. She has to wake up soon. It's not long till her heart fails her. I won't be able to handle that.
