Newyork, Feb 7th, 2041, 1 million infected and 26 million dead in the U.S, 1 year after World War 3 began

There's an empty park with a kid on a swing set, the weather is quite windy, it feels to be around 47 degrees. The little girl goes up and down on the swings as the cold wind brushes against her face, the little girl seems to be at the age of 6. As she swings she stares to her right at a lake hidden behind trees and bushes. And in the distance, shouting can be heard. The little girl begins to cry as she suddenly stops swinging. She falls to the floor and holds her stomach, she then vomits blood.

"SYDNEY!" an older woman yells from behind the little girl. The girl looks back to see her mom running towards her. She has a gun in her hands and blood all over her jacket, the woman quickly goes in to hug her child. The hug made both of them feel better as the mother begins to cry, "Don't ever scare me like that again," the mother says while hugging Sydney even tighter.

"Momma, I don't feel so good," Sydney said as she, too, began to cry.

"What is it, sweety?" the mother said while pulling out of the hug. She glanced down at the blood in the grass beside Sydney and looked up at her face, there was blood dripping from her mouth as well. The mother almost screamed when she saw it but she kept her composure in order to not scare her daughter.

"Sweety let's go inside okay? Daddy will be here shortly," the mother said, holding back tears.

"Ok mommy," the little girl responded. The mom picked her up and took her inside where she walked upstairs and laid her down in her bed. "Take this," the mother said. Sydney glanced over to her mother's hand and observed what looked to be a white pill. "What is it, mommy?"

"It's melatonin, it's to help you sleep, take 3 of them," the mother said while holding a glass of water. "Okay mommy," Sydney replied. She stood up and swallowed all three of the pills while downing them with water. They felt irritating going down as if she had just swallowed three pennies, the mother kissed Sydney on the forehead while holding her hand. Sydney threw up once again, the mother quickly gave her some more water and brought a trashcan over to her. "Mommy," Sydney said.

"Yes, sweety?"

"Am I going to be okay?"

The mother looked at Sydney in her eyes and gave a smile while choking on her words, "Yes sweety, just go to sleep, I'll see you when you wake up."

"Mommy."

"Yes, sweety?"

"I love you," Sydney said as she drifted off to sleep. The mother burst into tears while resting her head on her daughter's chest and saying, "I love you too!"

The mother spent a few more minutes crying before sitting up on the bed, she tilted her head to the side where she saw a photo on Sydney's desk. She picked it up and observed it in more detail, she stared at a guy holding a fish in one hand and her daughter in the next, looking much younger than she was now. Next to the guy was her, smiling as if she had the whole world ahead of her. She began to have flashbacks of the hour before, she's running with a crowd of people as she desperately tries to find her husband and daughter. She runs into a store and looks at the white-tiled floor, there she sees her husband, slowly bleeding to death from what looked to be a stab wound as he struggles to breathe. She cries and holds her husband in her arms until he breathes his last breath. She stands up while trying not to puke at the sight of her dead husband and tries desperately to pull herself together to start looking for her daughter. She exits the flashback and looks over at her daughter as she sleeps peacefully. She cries even more as she stands up and pulls her gun from around her shoulder. She aims it at her daughter's head... and pulls the trigger. She then quickly turns the gun on herself and proceeds to commit suicide.
