"Pass me the burger patties, Tilly," asked Jon. His sleeves were rolled up showing his tattoos. I couldn't get over the fact that he and Christian were literally carbon copies of each other. "The burger patties..." Jon repeated.

"Oh right, sorry," I said passing him the patties. Focus Matilda, Focus! We have a barbeque to do. He placed the patties on and walked away.

"Keep an eye on it, Tilly," he said as he went opening his top button and loosening his tie. He was stressed, as usual, he was always working as well. In the corner of my eyes, I could see them. My view shot to where they were sitting and I could see them flirting and giggling.

He was sitting shirtless and had his hand on her inner thigh, making little circles on her skin. She was lying on his shoulder and she looked so beautiful. Her black hair flowed down his torso, it was so perfectly curled. They looked so happy and in love. I wanted it. I wanted that to be me. Why couldn't that be me?

"Tilly! Fire! It's on fire!" called out a voice behind me. "It's burning!" I snapped my eyes back onto the barbeque only to see half of it had turned charcoal black, I can hear a scoff coming from behind. A petite figure speed walk/ran towards me.

Cécelia grabbed the utensils off of me in a hurry and turned the machine off. She quickly picked the patties off the machine and placed them onto a plate. She looked quite distressed.

"Sorry, I was distracted..." I say unsure why I was feeling this way even after I said I would try and give him the cold shoulder. I see her peer at Christian and Carmen and look back at me giving me a sympathetic look. She always knew what was wrong. She pulled me into a tight hug, not wanting to let go anytime soon.

"Don't worry I'm rooting for you guys," she whispers in my ear, letting a small giggle escape my lips. "You are the daughter I've always wanted, honey, I love you and I'm team Chilly, what else could you want." She says, comfortingly.

"Thanks, Cécelia, I love you too." I saw as I pull away from the hug. I could feel eyes watching me the whole time, I turn around to see who it is only to see my mother step in front of me. She grabs a patty and looks at me ready for an insult.

"Let's have our burnt food everyone, courtesy of my daughter." She says raising an eyebrow like a champagne glass. A smirk forms on her lips. "But it's not the one thing she didn't get right..." I am fuming at this point. She always takes the mick out of me and frankly it's getting tiring.

I pick up my plate and a burger and go sit on the empty side of the bonfire. Straight in front of me, I see Christian and carmen feeding each other and messing about. Without even realising, my mother has sat down next to me.

"Happy aren't they... young, happy and completely in love." She says mockingly. I ignore her and go to lift my burger to my lips. She slaps it out of my hand and it falls onto the floor. All the onions and other veg were scattered on the floor.

"Oops.." she retorts obnoxiously, "my bad." She gets up and so do I. She looks completely unfazed by my strength to stand up. And with one moment of confidence, I slap her.

Almost in sync, she pulls her hand to her face to cover where I slapped her. At this point, I can feel everyone watching me, silently. I have had enough.

"You bi-" I start before getting interrupted by my dad.

"Don't you dare finish that sentence young land," he shouts back. Why would he defend her? Was he on her side?

"But-" I start again to be cut off once again.

"No, not a single word out of you," he warns sounding more intimidating. He walks over to mum and takes her hand leading her back into the building.
