script: Drawer glides open. Hannibal inspects a pile of old t-shirts looking for clues to Will's past - instead he only finds white t-shirts, a dozen of them neatly folded. Telling in its own way.
Hannibal sits at the station, admires Will's handiwork, such delicate lures for catching fish. He presses his thumb gently against the pointed barb, and keeps the pressure on until he draws a drop of blood. Without lingering on his act, Hannibal sucks the lone drop from his thumb-tip. The sound is not unlike a quick kiss.

Hannibal:"Tell me about your mother."

Will: "Some lazy psychiatry, Doctor Lecter. Lowhanging fruit."

Hannibal: "I suspect that fruit is on a high branch. Verydifficult to reach."

Will: "So is my mother. Never knew her."

Hannibal: "Aninteresting place to start."

Will: "Tell me about your mother. Let's start there." (deleted line: "Quid pro quo." script: A fan of the language, Hannibal enjoys Will's use of Latin.)

Hannibal: "Both my parents died when I was very young. The proverbial orphan until I was adopted by my Uncle Robertos when I was 16."

Will: "You have orphanin common with Abigail Hobbs."

Hannibal: "I think you'll discover that you and I have a great deal in common with Abigail. She's already demonstrated anaptitude for the psychological."

Will: "There's something so foreign about family... like an ill-fitting suit. I never connected to the concept."

Hannibal:"You created a family for yourself."

Will: "I've only connected a family ofstrays, and thank you for feeding them while I was away."

Jack: "Our friend Will seems haunted today."

Hannibal: "We don't know what nightmares lie coiled beneath Will's pillow. (...) He needs an anchor, Jack."

Hannibal: "Teaching her how to fish. Her father taught her how to hunt."

Will: "That's why Ithought better of it."

Hannibal: "Pretty paternal, Will."

Will: "Aren't you?"

Hannibal: "Yes. Our good friend Doctor Bloom has advised against taking toopersonal an interest in Abigail's welfare. Tell me why are you so angry?"

Will: "I'm angry about those boys, I'm angry because I know when I find them, I can't help them. I can't, I can't give them back what they just gave away."

Hannibal: "Family."

Will: "Yeah. We call them The lost boys."

Hannibal: "Abigail's lost too. And perhaps it's our responsibility... yours and mine to help her find her way."

(In the moment when Alana yells at Hannibal for taking Abigail from the hospital and then we see 3 table settings with candles lit, Hannibal was waiting for Will.)

Alana looking at third place setting: "You were expecting me?"

Hannibal (deleted line): "In the interest of honesty, we were expecting Will Graham. But my phone calls went unreturned."

Abigail: "You hungry? Hannibal made breakfast for dinner."

Alana: "I could eat."

Hannibal: "What is it? Abigail. What do you see?"

Abigail: "I see family."

(Hannibal really called Will several times. I can just imagine Hannibal calling Will again and again, crestfallen every time they go unanswered. And he still prepared a place for him. Hannibal never gives up, though.)
