morning came in a snap but chongyun didn't wanna wake up. he lied on his bed and didn't move. he wanted to wait for xingqiu to leave, last night was so awkward and chongyun thought it was going to be awkward this morning too. chongyun rolled over and slightly opened his eyes to see if xingqiu was still asleep. but when he glanced at the mattress, xingqiu was no where to be found. did he already leave?
confused, chongyun rolled over xingqiu sleeping next to him. shocked, he jumped back a little, thinking about how he didn't notice xingqiu before. chongyun thought maybe the mattress was uncomfortable for him, but deep down he knew he stayed because of the previous night.
chongyun sat up and rubbed his eyes. xingqiu rolled over.
chongyun reached for his phone to check for any notifications.
family gc

just as chongyun was about to get up from his bed, a voice behind him made him pause. "where are you going?" chongyun turned around and stammered slightly. "oh im-im going down for breakfast." chongyun replied.
"alright i'll come down in a sec." xingqiu yawned. chongyun knew xingqiu would most likely sleep in knowing he stays up late.
chongyun got up and headed downstairs to see hu tao making mac and cheese.
"for breakfast? really?" chongyun blinked sarcastically.
"yes for breakfast it's the only one i know how to make bozo,"
"ok, why do you keep calling me that?"
"because it's funny," hu tao stuck her tongue out and chongyun rolled his eyes.
venti, xingqiu and xiao were still sleeping so chongyun just scrolled through his phone on the couch.
soon enough, xingqiu came down the stairs and sat down next to chongyun.
"what are we doing today?" xingqiu asked
"i'm not sure, i might just stay home today." chongyun replied, putting his phone down.
"but you've been inside ever since school ended a few days ago, at least get some sun??" xingqiu said sternly.
"maybe, but anyways hu tao is making mac and cheese for breakfast, she makes that every time she's in charge,"
"haha i know, it actually tastes kind of good though for hu tao,"
"right??" chongyun smiled slightly.
"alright, food is ready bozos." hu tao came in with two bowls of mac and cheese.
"why did that take you nearly two hours to make??" chongyun asked, genuinely concerned.
"messed up the first batch, now eat up." hu tao walked away.
"uhh, alright then." chongyun tried to eat a spoonful.
venti and xiao came down and helped themselves to the mac and cheese.
venti had to go home early so xiao headed back upstairs after breakfast.
"i should go soon too, i just remembered my father is going to take me to a new bookstore, do you wanna come, yun?"
"that's okay, you know i'm not interested in that kind of stuff anyway." chongyun replied.
"okay, just promise me you'll at least go outside for a little bit today?"
"i promise."
"great! well i'm going to head out now, i'll text you later!" xingqiu waved and chongyun waved back, watched the front door shut.
chongyun went up to his room himself and shut the door. he was thinking about the previous night and realized how much xingqiu cares about him. he sighed, and lied on his bed and went on his phone.
chongyun didn't realize how fast the time went by, it was already almost one o'clock. he had skipped lunch. feeling tired, he fell asleep.
chongyun kept waking up so he decided to just listen to music and stare at the ceiling, that always helps pass time.
soon enough, hu tao came in.
"what are you doing?" hu tao asked, sitting on the ground.
"oh um, nothing." chongyun replied.
"have you eaten since breakfast?"
"no, i fell asleep,"
"well there's leftovers in the fridge, im warming them up for dinner." hu tao said as she tied her long hair into a bun. "will you come down?"
"yeah i guess, just call when it's ready."
"okay, xiao is helping as well so, i'll see you in a bit." hu tao walked out of the room and kept the door open.
chongyun paused his music and took out his earbuds.
he tried not to think about anything, leaving his mind blank. he chose to head downstairs to wait for the food.
chongyun sat at the table, looking at the soup hu tao was placing on the table. he really wasn't that hungry, but he had to eat because he didn't want anyone to start worrying about him.
xiao sat at the table spinning his earrings. he took a few spoonfuls of the soup in silence.
chongyun stirred the soup trying to stall eating the food. eventually he ate most of it but felt no need for more after.
"can i be excused?"chongyun asked.
"sure. clear your dish though," hu tao said.
after chongyun cleared his dish, he scurried to his room. he was still exhausted and fell asleep right away.

a/n hey i finally posted another chapter laugh out loud
sorry there hasn't been much xingyun yet but it's fun to write about the family and stuff so this might be a slow xingyun fanfic but i'm working on it
