~The Dragoness' Flame~
"We can't wait for him to wake up, Sass. Let's go!" I hear Tahoi yell over his shoulder as he turns and plunges into the water.
I stare down into the handsome face of the man I just rescued. My heart is hammering in my chest, panic almost overtaking me. The only consolation I have that he's still alive is the obvious rise and fall of his chest.
I can hear Tahoi swimming out deeper, clearly impatient for us to leave, but... I just... can't. I don't want to leave this man's side. At least not without making sure he'll be okay.
I gently wrap my arms around his head, cradling his face. I gaze down at him in awe. He may have fallen into the water, but he wasn't scared... not of me, at least.
I close my eyes for a moment in silent prayer before I whisper into his hair, "Please wake up."
I suppose the Goddess has given me my birthday present because he groans and starts to move around.
"Oh, thank the Goddess," I breathe out in relief, "I'm glad you're alive."I lean down to touch my forehead to his, a gesture that is intimate for Snakes. I can't help but also leave him a small peck on the forehead.
"Goodbye..." I whisper before I turn and follow Tahoi out to sea.
I blink my eyes open as the dream dissolves from my vision and is replaced by sunbeams falling on my face. I slowly sit up and notice that Tahoi is nowhere to be found. Looking over at the clock it reads 10 AM.
Letting out a breath I didn't even know I was holding, I collapse back down onto the bed with an audible huff.
Shit. What's gotten into me? I was really reckless last night. But... that man...
I close my eyes and I can see an image of him clearly. Short, slightly curled black hair. Stunning hazel eyes that shift colors in the light. And his scent is... intoxicating.
I gulp air into my lungs.
His scent... It's like... I've been alone and cold my whole life and it's a huge blanket of warmth and safety.
A loud noise from downstairs jolts me out of my thoughts.
"Shit!" I hear Tahoi exclaim in pain.
I roll my eyes and get out of bed. Quickly, I pull on a baggy t-shirt and jeans and hurry downstairs to see the damage.
Taking two steps at a time, I happen upon quite an interesting scene.
Tahoi, who seems to be doing the split, is now stuck.
I lean against the rail in amusement, "Whatcha doin' there, buddy?" I snicker.
He glares up at me and I realize he's actually in a mood.
"Hey beautiful," he mumbles, then looks back down to focus on his task, "I was cleaning up your house and then I slipped." He uses his arms to push against the wall, which propels his body backward, allowing him to escape from the uncomfortable position and fall on his ass with a grunt.
