Menses 111/Month 3
as I told yah before things always seemed to come in three's
It was the third day of the month and things were going downhill fast at school. One of the boys had tripped me up as I scooted round the corner of the corridor. He was one of the ones who always hung around in a group of gross and pimply. He was making my life terrible either dragging my chair in class or spilling my things on the floor. Canteen at lunch time was a nightmare. I had just about had enough so when he tripped me, I sent blue sparks at him and they set him on fire. Boy did he scream as he ran down the corridor. The fire barely touched him; I mean really, what a goose. WeeeLLL, it kinda scorched his left leg pants, but honest that was all. Anywho, this tallish girl who was in most of my classes, bent down and helped me up, she had been giggling.
'God he's an arsehole serves him right.' She laughingly said. 'Georgina Rameras, you will have to show me that trick.' Her right hand was out front.
'Reubena,' I shook her hand the way I saw Pa do it, and thought no I wouldn't show her how the dude was burnt? I kinda used a touch of magic, as in a small lighter appeared in my hand and I hastily shoved it back in my jacket pocket.
'Ouch,' she said as she pulled her hand back and shook it. 'Don't let the teachers see that, those things are forbidden.'
'What do you mean?' I asked innocently.
'The lighter you have shoved in your pocket. I promise I won't tell anyone.' She gave me a wicked smile. From that moment on we became firm friends.
Georgina nearly grabbed my hand, but then she musta thought better of it. I had actually made her palm go extra red color even with my gloves over my hands. We ran to class as the siren clanged. As we ran, I checked her out. She was a smidge taller than me with dead straight long brown hair. Eyes were pale blue and her skin had a slight brownness to it. I found out later her Pa was from South America and her Ma was from Scotland. After school, the dude I scorched hadn't said anything so I got away with it. I smiled, too soon, cause my parents read me the riot act when I got home. Me, I was in a good mood because I had made a friend. That turned into dust when I rocked in the door. Ma and Pa were both standing in the garage when I stepped out of the monster.
'How could you Reubena,' Ma screamed at me.
'You must not and I mean not show the humans any non human behaviour my daughter.' Pa was trying not to grin. 'Also, I'm sorry my dear no touching them unless you are wearing gloves and even then, it might be a little tricky.' He showed me a sad face.
'Diablo, go back to that hell hole you are no good. I must have been mad to ever think I loved you.' Ma disappeared after she spoke.
'Oh Pa, they are so nasty and that kid keeps doing stuff to me.' I stuttered as I began to cry. 'And, and I even made a friend.' I cried even louder.
'Perhaps I could visit the lad.' Pa said sweetly as he cuddled me to his chest.
'No Pa, Ma will only get more upset. I'll handle it.' Pa kissed my cheek and puffed away. It got me wondering how my parents had known about that irritating boy and how I scorched him. It was another thing I never found out about.
I started to have lessons in Martial Arts from Chen. He beat the crap outa me the first day. Ma had stood by the door and watched me being tossed around. When I had a quick peak at her between being thrown once more to the floor, I could see she had a huge smile on her face as if she was enjoying me being beaten almost to a pulp. I crawled up to my room and fell onto my bed. Every muscle and bone in my body ached and when Pa spoke to me, he was cross. The next minute Pa was standing by my bed. He waved his hands over me and the aches and pains vanished, must learn that trick too one day, I thought. As I ran down the stairs, I heard Chen screaming. But between screams he cried that Ma commanded him to hurt me. Pa had him held against one of the walls in the dining room. Flames were oozing out of Pa and they were touching Chen on his private area. At that moment Ma walked into the room.
