Chapter 5: Goodbyes </3

——-1 month later———

"Well.....this is it." Kageyama whispered to himself as he scanned the gym, full of 3rd years graduating. His eyes stopped when he saw Hinata, his iconic bright smile making everyone else happy just by looking at him. "I'll miss you Sho..."

He began spacing out, the thoughts of what was going to happen in a few days invading his mind at the worst possible time. "Stop stop STOP. Not right now. You're fucking graduating stay focused Tobio my god." He smacked his face and directed his attention to the principal on stage announcing everyone's names, his soon to come.

"Hinata Shoyo!" Hinata walked up onto the stage and received his diploma, smiling and waving to the crowd like he wasn't having a freak out episode in the bathroom 10 minutes ago. Kageyama watched as Hinata's eyes met his and he winked subtly enough that no one would notice, and his face flushed. "Damn it......smooth bastard."

About 5 minutes later, his name was called. "Kageyama Tobio!" He walked onto the stage and scanned the room, waiting for his eyes to meet Hinata's, but they never did. He saw Yamaguchi and Tsukishima though, and smiled at them. "Shit- Wheres Shoyo?? He wouldn't miss my graduation hell no. He'd never do that." He walked down the other side of the stage, frantically staring around until he saw Hinata's small figure peeking out from the door before he ran back out it after making eye contact with him.

"Did he watch me from the door? What's that all about....." He began walking towards that door, past the bleachers where the parents were sitting before he heard a familiar voice call his name. Horrified, he stopped in his tracks and slowly turned to see his mother walking towards him, his father trailing behind. He felt his stomach drop and his heart skip two beats.

"The hell? What are you two doing here....." His mother was smiling like she hadn't told him just months ago that if he still liked men she'd never speak to him again when he accidentally let it slip that he had a boyfriend. His response to that back then was "okay good then don't." Now, he was speechless. "We're simply here because we want to see our son graduate is that a crime?"

Kageyama backed up, small step by small step, trying to avoid them and walk away, but their presence alone was enough to make him feel trapped. "You know I left home for a reason right? And haven't you told me countless times that you never wanted to see me again??" Kageyama's mother scoffed.

"As if we'd ever say that dear. Now cmon, give your mom a hug like a good son." "No." His mother stumbled back from where she was holding her arms out, a shocked expression painting her face. "What- what do you mean no??" Kageyama turned and quickly walked away, knowing he'd go off on them if he stayed any longer.

He redirected his focus to the door that Hinata went out of, making him unaware that his parents were following him. He burst through the doors and saw Hinata dart around the side of the building. Of course, he went after him. "Shoyo?? Hey where are you??" He peeked his head around the side of the building and saw Hinata leaning against the wall, rubbing his eyes with his sleeve.

Kageyama ran up to him and gently moved his arm from his face. "Sho?? Hey what happened??? Talk to me it's okay. You're okay." Hinata didn't say anything except look up at Kageyama before lunging forward, hugging him and hiding his face in his shoulder. "Shhhh.....it's okay Sho, I'm here you're okay." "I'm s-sorry To-" "No. Don't be sorry you're fine. You're okay now alright?" He softly kissed the top of Hinata's head and let him cry into his shoudler before someone interrupted.

"Tobio?!? What is the meaning of this???" Kageyama looked up to see his father standing in front of his mother, who looked to be crying. "Leave. Now." He let Hinata go and made sure he was behind him as his father approached him, anger furying over his face. "I said. Leave."
