"Baby come on. You gotta get up." He whispered as he lightly shook me, only increasing my headache.

"Leave me alone James." I mumbled as I pushed him away from me slightly.

"Lilah, come on. You've gotta get ready for work." He laughed slightly.

"No." I whined as I reluctantly stood up.

I walked over to the bathroom, stumbling a little.

"Are you okay?" He asked me.

"No. I'm annoyed because some asshole woke me up." I groaned as I shut the bathroom door. I heard him laugh.

I really didn't want to go into work today. All of those people, talking to me and asking me questions. It made my head spin just thinking about it.

"Hey baby, I gotta go. Work just called an early meeting, but I'll see you later okay?" He said as he opened the bathroom door and kissed my cheek.

"Okay." I answered.

He smiled at me in the mirror, kissing me cheek one more time before he walked out. My head started to spin really badly. I felt my stomach turn as I dropped my knees in front of the toilet. I started to sob and cry as I threw up, trying as hard as I could not to.

I flushed the toilet and walked away from it. I went to the sink and immediately started brushing my teeth to get the bitter taste off of my tongue. I knew I needed to eat or at least drink something but I couldn't muster up the energy to walk back to my bed, let alone walk all the way downstairs to the kitchen.

A few hours had passed and all I had done was throw up and try to sleep. I didn't even remember to call in sick at work so I knew that I had already missed a days worth of pay already. My brain was finally starting to quieten down a little bit so that I could sleep when I heard the front door open.

"Lilah? Baby are you here?" His voice echoed through the house.

He'll find me soon enough. I don't have the energy to call out to him. I heard the bedroom door open and the sound of his bag hitting the floor bounced through my skull.

"Hey baby. I thought you were at work. I called at your office to see if you were free for lunch and your assistant told me you didn't come in." He explained as he walked further into the room and stood over me.

"You know how I went to go and see my mom in the hospital on the weekend?" I asked as I watched him nod. "I think I caught a bug or something. I've been non-stop throwing up since this morning." I watched as his eyes softened.

"Li, why didn't you say anything? I would've stayed back with you." He sounded somewhat hurt that I didn't confide in him.

"Because by the time it hit me you had already left. Like literally you shut the front door as I started throwing up and at that point I was more focused on what I was doing rather then trying to call you back." I answered.

"Well, I've just cancelled all my other meetings for today so I'm going to stay here with you." He stated as he started undoing his tie.

"What? James no, you can't do that." I countered as I tried to sit up.

"There's nothing you can do about it now Lilah. My baby is sick and I'm going to take care of her." He sounded as if his mind was made up, so I was in no position to argue with him.

"You really don't have to." I tried to protest.

"Do you want chicken noodle, vegetable or tomato soup?" He asked, completely ignoring what I said.

"James I-"

"Don't try and convince me to go back to work because it won't play out in your favour. Answer my question." He interrupted.

"No. I don't want you getting sick too." He scoffed and rolled his eyes at my statement.

"Baby, come on. Let me help you. I want you to get better, I don't care if I get sick in the process. How what soup do you want?" He tried again, not budging.

"Chicken noodle please." I sighed in defeat, knowing I was fighting a losing battle.

He nodded and walked out of the room. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a fluffy tail walk into the room. It then wasn't long before Whiskers, our cat, had jumped up on the bed and snuggled next to me.

"You know your daddy is the most stubborn man I've ever met." I mumbled as I pet him.

He curled up on my stomach and rested his head on my chest. The heat he radiated soothed the aching muscles on my stomach and sides from throwing up. James walked in and groaned as he saw the cat in the bed.

"Lilah, I know you're sick but I refuse to let the cat stay in the bed." He stated as he walked over, handing me the bowl of soup and taking the cat off of me.

"Meanie." I mumbled before drinking some of the soup.

"Ouch. That one cut real deep Lil." He feigned heart ache as he collapsed on the bed next to me.

"Careful J, you almost made me spill the soup." I laughed as I half heartedly and playfully hit his chest.

"The amount of abuse I suffer because of you." He muttered under his breath, making me laugh.

"You know I love you." I dismissed his comment as I turned on an episode of Rick and Morty.

"Seriously Lilah? This show again?" He playfully groaned as he rested his head on the pillow and moved his arm under it so he could see the tv.

"Yes this show again. It's a good show." I scoffed back as I placed the empty bowl down and laid down with him, twirling a few strands of his hair on my fingers.
