"Jungkook I want you to meet the Jung children." His mother says. He looks at them all, they are all smiling at him as they take off their masks and Jungkook does the same to shake their hands."Nice to meet you, I'm Jungkook." He says softly and they nod, the woman looks at him in awe while the son looks around. Jungkook notices that he is looking at Taehyung who is speaking to someone.
"So how do you like Compton?" He asks, they look at him for a moment he knows that they are silently judging him, but he ignores them.
"It's disgusting." The daughter says, he didn't ask for her name. He didn't plan on knowing it and he didn't even want to meet her or her brother.
"I disagree with you there," Jungkook says softly and she looks at him almost as if offended.
"You like this garbage?" She asks pointing around the place.
"It isn't bad when you live in it for a while, it is a dirty place I must admit. The people here are kind, they respect you if you respect them. They like to party, you might find Spanish music or any kind of music around the corner and families dancing it is truly wonderful." She points at Jungkook.
"You are telling me, that you hang out with the disgusting people. The blacks? Mexicans?" Jungkook stares at her for a moment, he has to look up due to their height difference.
"I do. I've been to a party or two, I've eaten their amazing food, talked with them and they are kind people. Those blacks have names, they are people as well. And please Mexican? You might be rich, pretty, and young, but all of that will be good for nothing if you have such a small brain. There are other nationalities for the Hispanic/Latino culture. You wouldn't mind me referring to you as Chinese right? I mean if you can them the blacks and the Mexicans then I can call you Chinese, Ching-Chong." He says and she stays quiet. Scoffing she walks away and the brother clears his throat.
"I'm sorry about her, she's always been a stuck-up bitch." He says and Jungkook nods, "I'm Hoseok by the way." He puts his hand out again and Jungkook shakes it. "I don't mean this in a flirty way whatsoever ever, but you are really beautiful. Stunning really." He says and Jungkook smiles while thanking him.
He sees Hoseok walk away seconds later to go speak with Taehyung who drinks whine. He sits down beside his mother who is drinking as well.
"You've seen the parties, you've been to them. You've eaten at the restaurants. You've met them. Didn't we establish a rule of you not going out? How is it that you had gone out in the first place?" She says and Jungkook looks at her.
"Right now isn't the time." He says softly before looking around. He looks around, the classical music playing over the voices speaking. The light of the chandelier on top of them. The people. How they all look so elegant and happy.
His eyes stop on a certain person. A smile spreads on his lips when he sees who it is. The latter might've been wearing a mask, but in some way or another Jungkook would know that it had been him. After so much time with him, so many kisses, so many compliments whispers and engraved into his head. Into his heart, he knows the latter by just looking at him. Even blind he'd know it was him, a thousand miles and just one word would be needed for him to know that it is him.
He could be dying and just the faintest touch of his hand could bring him back to life, but he knows that is not possible. It's just a metaphor he likes to use. They are what he likes to use when he has this certain feeling inside him that he can't describe.
Yet, his smile falls. When he sees what he's doing. How his hand is in one place and then whatever piece of jewelry was on the person's hands, neck, or ears is gone. He sits quietly watching the older take the jewelry and then he sees him bumping into Jung's mother, she is alone and he finds himself staring at how Jimin ever so discreetly takes off her expensive necklace and replaces it with another along with the brooch.
He watched Jimin walk away and then bump into the eldest Jung daughter, they speak for a moment. Jungkook notices how he takes the ring off her finger before walking away. There is something inside him.
Hoping that the latter is doing it for fun, to fuck with their minds and not what he thinks he's doing.
But he can't, he just can't believe it. Not when they all of a sudden make eye contact. They don't need to take off their masks, they already know each other. He sees Jimin put his head down, check the time, and then bump into one person one last time before walking away.
"Jungkook where are you?" His mother asks when he stands up abruptly, he looks at her and then at Jimin who is walking away. She holds his hand to try to pull him back, he pulls his hand away and he follows through the crowd bumping into people until they are outside.
"Jimin!" He screams when they are outside. Jimin stops, he tries to walk away, but it's impossible. He just can't do it.
He turns around and he looks at Jungkook, he walks towards him and he puts his hand up, "Listen-"
"You said that you didn't steal." He whispers, Jimin lets out a sigh.
"I don't-"
"Then why aren't you putting the jewelry back, I watched you. Saw how you took it from them, not once did you put it in their seats." He says, Jimin sighs as he checks the time again.
"Listen you have to go, you have to. I need to do something-"
"I'm not leaving," Jungkook says
"Jungkook you have to fucking leave, this is your-" Tires screech, and as if going to cause havoc men to step out on masks. Guns in their hands and they point them at them.
"You called the fucking police didn't you, you motherfucker!" One screams while shoving the gun to Jimin's chest. The older pushes him.
"Of course fucking not! I'll get inside the fucking car and take me to the Rayes now! I want this shit to be over!" Jimin screams and the gun is pointed at Jungkook.
"He's coming too." The man says and Jimin shakes his head.
"He fucking isn't."
"Bosses order." Jimin stomps his foot and he screams out in frustration. Before grabbing Jungkook's hand and walking inside the car with him.
"Don't fucking say anything," Jimin whispers to him and the boy looks at him with eyes full of tears.
"It feels like all this time you have been lying to me." He whispers. "Why do I feel that way?"
