Chapter 15 - Confession

Thoughts were running through Sakura's head as she stared at Shinji's figure in shock.

He knew they were there, yet he didn't attack.

He could've took this chance and killed one of them before they could call reinforcements.

Why didn't he?

Where is Naruto?

What is he trying to do?

She calmed herself down and turned to Kiba. "What?"

"You know that guy who pissed on me?"

"Yeah....he's.....that guy who took Naruto away," Sakura answered with a frown. "He clearly knew we were here...."

"Sai, inform Tsunade-sama, immediately!" Sakura whispered as she turned towards Sai.

Sai nodded, pulling out a scroll and a pen.

"So, what are we gonna do now, Shikamaru?" Ino asked. "He found us...But he..."

Shikamaru sighed. "We'll follow him from a distance, and by that I mean around 300 meters. We can't lose him nor can we fight him..."

Two birds of ink flew out of Sai's scroll, soaring into the skies.

"I'm done," Sai said, rolling the scroll close.

"Alright, Shino!"

Shino nodded, bugs flying out from underneath his sleeves before they scattered.

"This should do, we'll wait here for now, and we'll follow them after around a minute or two. We're counting on you, Shino," Shikamaru narrowed his eyes.

"Ah, man, they're really irritating," Shinji sighed, patting Naruto's head. "I don't know how you can deal with pests like them back in Konoha."

"Don't touch me," Naruto sighed.

"Why, don't you love your onii-san???" Shinji teased, rubbing his shoulder onto Naruto.

"You're more irritating than them."

"You're meeaaaan....." Shinji groaned.

"You're annoying."

Shinji sighed. "Anyways, how's your Kokeshi thingy going?"

"I still can't move when I use it," Naruto answered. "You still can't figure out your Mangekyo?"

"No," Shinji pouted before punching Naruto on the back lightly. "How dare you surpass your older brother?"

"I could care less."

Shinji glanced at him. "You're too cold."

"What do you expect? Walk up to me and have me cling to you like a stupid kid?" Naruto scoffed.

"Come onnn, why are you so mean today? Is it because of the Konoha shinobi? Maybe I'll get rid of them?" Shinji asked.

"Don't."

"Huh...?"

"Stop it!" Naruto yelled. "You're not my-" Naruto growled, brushing through his hair. "Stop. Stop clinging onto me. Why are you still following me anyways? You met your, oh dear little brother, isn't that enough for you?"

"But big brothers should love the younger brothers....right?"

"Love?" Naruto scoffed. "Ever since you appeared, ever since you killed that Neji guy and his team, my life started going downhill again. All was fine until you appeared!"

"Is that....how you think of me?"

Naruto glanced up at Shinji.

"I see," Shinji smiled. "Maybe I'm lying to myself too."

He chuckled lightly. "Maybe....I hate you. Maybe I'm only lying to myself that I love you because you're my brother."

There was silence.

"When I heard I had a brother....something within me sparked, and I wanted to stay by your side, no matter the cost," Shinji said. "I myself....I do not know why. But I do try. I am still trying my best to love you."

Naruto froze as Shinji wrapped him in a hug. "If this foolish big brother here did too many wrongs for you to forgive....I understand."

"I......" Naruto's eyebrows furrowed.

Slight tears formed in his eyes. ".....forgive you..."

"That's......" 

Shinji's eyes glowed red as a twisted smile crawled onto his face. ".....Good."
