[A/N]: I'm sorry the two updates today have been so short, they're really just filler chapters so I can get this story moving along. But, the next chapter will be longer because I've had it planned out in my head for weeks and I'm really excited to finally write it!

Also, we're going to pretend that Beth's bday was in week 8 because week 9 is also an eventful chapter and it would just be too much. Unless, her birthday actually was in week 8, then we can forget this part of the author's note. Okay, I'm going to stop writing before this note becomes longer than the story itself, but enjoy and stay tuned!!!!

Bethany sat in the middle of their practice room scrolling through Instagram and Twitter as she waited for Derek. He was late again which shouldn’t surprise Bethany anymore, but it was still annoying nonetheless.

Especially since the one time she decided to sleep an extra fifteen minutes was also the day that Derek thought it would be a good day to show up on time. Since then, Bethany has never been late again, and Derek was never on time again. As annoying as it was, she decided it was best to not bother him about it.

Except, today was her birthday, and she hoped that maybe he could be on time this time, but no.

The vibe of the room suddenly shifted as the camera crew began to prepare for the day. But prepare for what? Bethany thought to herself. Rehearsals hadn’t even started, and by the looks of it, they weren’t going to start anytime soon.

Then he showed up. With a large arrangement of nineteen pink balloons. Bethany opened her mouth to say something, but quickly closed it when Derek began to sing “Happy Birthday”. The smile did not disappear from Bethany’s face once, as she ran over and wrapped her arms around his neck, and Derek lifted her off the ground and kissed her cheek.

“Thank you, Derek,” Bethany said once both her feet were back on the ground. “This was so thoughtful.”

“Happy Birthday, baby.” He smiled back at her. “I also have something else for you, but you’ll get that later.”

Bethany stuck her bottom lip out in a pout, but nodded.

“Also, you know the dance this week very well, so I’m cutting practice short today so I can take you out for dinner before your party.”

Bethany raised both of her eyebrows, “And where might we be going?”

“That’s a surprise, too.” Derek smirked.

“So many surprises today…should I be worried?” Bethany joked.

Derek laughed, before pulling her to the center of the room to continue working on their salsa.

. . .

“I know you said you were cutting rehearsals short, and I am definitely not complaining,” Bethany said through heavy breaths after the final run through of the day, “but are you sure you want to stop now? It’s only been four hours.”

Derek nodded. “Well don’t you want to shower and get ready, or would you rather show up all sweaty? It’s your call….”

“Good point. I’m gonna go before you change your mind,” Bethany smirked before bouncing out the door to her car.

“”I’ll pick you up at 5!” Derek called from behind her, making his way to his own car.
