When we walked outside everyone was forming a small circle around the holes in the ground. Most people walked up to Jesse and his grandparents. Probably saying sorry, or something like that. Though, they it was obvious that saying sorry wasn't going to bring them back. Sighing, I looked at my parents. They were talking and smiling lovingly at each other, pecking each other on the lips.
Frowning I looked away, but continued to follow them. Leading me straight over to Jesse's grandparents. I was hidden behind my parents so he couldn't see me, but I could see him. He had the fakest smile on his face I have ever seen. It didn't even reach his eyes.
"Clara!" a voice siad lightly, I looked up as the grey hair woman wrapped my mother up in a hug.
"Macy. Daniel." my mothers soft voice range as she looked at the two. I furrowed my brows as they greeted each other like old friends, then doing the same to my dad.
"We are so sorry about your loss." mom said still blocking me from Jesse's view. He stared at the confrontation just as confused as I was. Though he covered it up with a smile.
"Thanks. So hows your daughter doing. She still in a coma?" I was baffled, how had they not noticed me standing here? Maybe they did, but thought I was someone else. My mother smiled widely shaking her head. She finally side stepped motioning me forward.
"She woke up a couple of days ago." my mom said as she looked down at me with a soft smile before looking back to Macy.
"Hi." I squeeked shyly, glancing up at them before my gaze landed on Jesse who was staring at me intently.
My eyes widened as I was enveloped in a warm hug, and I stood there awkwardly my arms still wrapped around my stomach. The woman held me at arms length looking me up and down. "My, your a beautiful young lady." she said before looking into my eyes. "You must be so confused." she said noticing my open mouthed, brow furrowed expression. Nodding my head I looked at my parents, confusion clear on my face.
"They visited you while you were in a coma honey. They heard about what happened to you and came to visit to see you." biting my bottom lip I looked down at the ground tears building up in my eyes.
"When we came it had only been a week, you looked so beaten, so fragile. Yet you were still so beautiful. I'm really sorry that had to happen to you at such a young age, about what you had witnessed." Macy said stepping back next to her husband. Biting down on my bottom lip harder until I drew blood to keep it from quivering and giving away that all I wanted to do was burst into tears.
"I know aplogizing won't do much, but i'm sorry for your loss." my voice came out light, as I ran my tongue over my bottom lip licking away the blood.
The man and woman both gave me small smiles before looking at Jesse and something seemed to click in her head. "Oh my, how silly of me. Jesse this is Clara and Triston, and their daughter Rowen. This is our grandchild Jesse." Mom and dad shook hands with him first. Then me, he held my hand for a bit longer than necessary. He looked like he had so many questions, he just wanted to blurt them out. He seemed to refrain from doing so. Instead putting a smile on his face as he scanned me up and down. His gaze landing on the wrap around my thigh.
No one had a chance to say anything else as the caskets where brought out and placed over the holes on some weird machine that would lower them to the ground. Since we were standing with Macy, Daniel, and Jesse. We were standing right in front of it. I noticed that the one that was in front of us was Mathews, because they hadn't taken the picture off.
