That One Night

That One Night

I was stranded on the side of the road one day

Lost and lonely without a path to tell me the way

Until I seen a light coming right for me

Shining the night so dark

It was a tattered old beat up truck slowing down to a crawl

I glanced in so very cautiously

There was an old man with the kindest eyes I've ever seen

But in this world now days

That doesn't mean a thing

He said, "You look like your not alright,

Let me give you a ride,

I'll take you where you need to go.

This isn't a place where anybody would want to be

The destination I assure you will be heavenly"

Now who's to say this man was all right

But I stared at him for a moment or two

I was thinking

"I've took many chances here and there,

What makes this one different then before,

Its my last resort"

So I hopped in and I was on my way back home

I couldn't shake the feeling off that this man wasn't like most

There was a loving glow about him that I never seen before

I said to him right then and there

"Why did you stop for a simple person like me, I could have been anybody strange.

Cause now days you just can't tell,”

He then replied to me

"Honey I've been where you are.

I've come to tell you that right now isn't the way it should be.

Baby doll life can be hard,

There lots of hate but then there’s love.

God knows your here right now

He's been with you every step of your way

But life’s distractions blind you somehow.

The message is sent to you from above.

You can lead many to the light

But you have to be in it yourself."

He pulled into my driveway and before I got out

I gave him a hug and told him thanks for everything

He shrugged and told me that was his job

Those words stumped me for a moment or two

So I started to go inside

But then I twirled around and his truck was nowhere to be seen

I didn't hear the sound of the truck clanking or nothing

Then it dawned on me

He was an angel from the skies

Sent to me so I can get my life strait

Now I'm on the golden path and its lovely

But I won't ever forget the words he told me when he first pulled up
