1 week later
Plopping down onto my seat I sigh. Today has been a long day at work. I had to not only make 2 wedding cakes, but also 9 extra ones from 9 different people. Sometimes I wonder how a person can get 9 cakes from my bakery.
Then again it is the best bakery in the city. That fact makes me smile. I started this business from the ground up and now look at it. It's all thanks to my grandmother.
When the bell rings I force myself up with what little strength I have. When the woman with blonde hair and pink streaks walks in my eyes widen. I've been avoiding her for 3 months now so why is she here.
"Hey! You haven't called me in a while Lilith." She smiles warmly as her steps take her closer to me.
I don't have a good excuse for her. What can I say that I didn't call her because I don't trust her? She's my ex-fiance's best friend Amy. She's only my friend because of him. I don't even want any ties to him at all.
Not to mention they talk a lot. "Sorry I've been busy with the shop," I say pretending to be busy. I grab a pen and start writing random orders down.
Her brow raises and she bites the inside of her lip. "You do tend to busy yourself when you're going through stuff," Amy says opening her purse. "How have you been since the breakup?" She asks.
I knew this question was coming. She just wants to report to my ex how miserable I am to make him feel better. Well of course he's wrong. I've gotten over the breakup and the horrible way he used to treat me. Nico makes me feel like a whole new woman.
I may have been 'useless to him' as he put it, but Nico doesn't make me feel that way. Even though we aren't dating, I wonder how he will feel when I tell him I'm pregnant.
"I've been good actually." I smile and put my pen down. "My business is still doing good so there isn't anything to be sad over. It's been three months after all.
The bell rings again, but this time I don't look at the door. "It's not like Gabe can stay in my thoughts forever." I force a smile.
"Who's Gabe?" My eyes snap to my sexy as sin new roommate. Nico's hair is slicked back into a very fancy temple shave with layers. He's wearing a navy blue suit instead of black today. His tie is black and his shoes are glossy. He must have a very important case today.
He walks over to the counter and pulls me in for a kiss. His hand slides behind my neck as he pushes me deeper into the kiss. His tongue grazing mine before pulling away with a smug smile. Amy's eyes widen and she blinks a few times.
"Who is this?" Amy smirks as she looks at me.
"T-This is Nico." I blush wiping the corner of my lip. "Can you give us a second Amy?" I smile pulling Nico away from her.
Taking a deep breath I look over my shoulder to make sure she isn't listening. "Hey." I smile up at him.
"Hey." He grins.
"What brings you here today?" I question looking down at his body in awe.
As he walks closer I raise a brow. He backs me up against the counter with his hands on either side of my body. I can almost hear Amy gasp from across the room.
"I came here today to get a muffin from my favorite Baker." He says twisting a strand of my hand around his finger and kissing it.
I let out a small giggle. "Oh so now you're going to come and get muffins from me every day."
"Not just muffins. I'll get donuts too, and maybe if I have time some cake." He winks. My face heats up at his innuendo. We can't have sex at home let alone my workplace. Not only can Rachel not catch us, but my coworker can't either.
