The sound of breaking glass alerted Min Hyeon. He was naked, and Seo Ryeong was running in his direction with a broken bottle of red wine. The grey rug in the hotel room was covered in expensive red wine. He winced. It would cost a bomb in cleaning services. He jumped up from the bed just in time. The jagged edges of the Chateau Mouton-Rothschilds 1945 – Jeroboam bottle slashed the 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets with ease. Even in his post-coital frame of mind, he recognized that the Seo Ryeong had aimed for his penis.
"Cool down," he said, deftly avoiding the overhead blow from the other half of the broken bottle. "I didn't know we were exclusive. If you recall, I wanted us to be exclusive but you keep going on as if we weren't. Just to be clear, there's nothing going on between Yong Ji and me. I'm just doing her a favour, that's all."
Even while avoiding the murderous woman in front of him, Min Hyeon admired the way Seo Ryeong went for him with vengeance on her mind. So, she had cared more than he had expected. He stalled a bit, hoping to reason things out logically. Man-to-man. Kinda.
"Why are you so angry? Ouch!"
The jagged bottle had found contact with his arm. A six-inch gash decorated his bicep, where there was none before. The blood seemed to pacify Seo Ryeong. She stopped trying to stab him. She paused to take a breath. There were something glistening in her eyes. Tears? He couldn't tell. The room was dim. One of the bedside lamps was completely destroyed when Seo Ryeong had entered the room and sexually laid her claim on him. She had been bold, angry, and oh-so-tight.
Something was a bit wrong about that part. People liked to give women the credit where instincts were due, but Min Hyeon felt that his instincts about Seo Ryeong wasn't wrong. He was her first. He was sure of it. He wanted to make sure she was alright, but right after their mind-blowing session, THIS had happened. Min Hyeon wasn't sure how they descended from sex to murder.
"I knew men couldn't be trusted."
"You can't equate all men to be like your father. Not every man is an asshole. I won't ever leave you pregnant like your father left your mother."
"But every man is a cheat? Why didn't you tell me anything about going to Pyeha's Christmas Ball with a date? A fiancée!" She spat. "The newspapers keep reporting that you two are engaged. The great families of KU Group uniting with Bae Electronics in one fell swoop."
"I'm not cheating on you with her. Or anyone!"
"You should have told me something. I've been waiting ever since the night of that ball for you to say something. But you thought it was alright to have one woman and to have another on the side, like banchans!"
"YOU WERE THE ONE WHO SAID YOU COULDN'T BE EXCLUSIVE!"
"I WAS LEARNING TO BE, ALRIGHT?"
Min Hyeon was stunned silent. He braced himself stoically when Seo Ryeong lifted her left hand with the other half of the broken bottle and brought it down hard on his left shoulder. It stung, but he felt like he deserved it. His heart knew he deserved it. Deep down, he had probably known that it would mess up with his relationship with Seo Ryeong but he had brushed the thought away. He had acted like his father did with his mother. Anything Seo Ryeong didn't know wouldn't hurt her. He had acted like he was the one in charge of the relationship, and not as half of a whole.
