After about an hour of interrogation, the detective, who Laila felt as though having gone through thick and thin with, finally stood up and nodded at Jada. "I think we are done with our investigation, Laila," the woman smiled almost barely, leaving Laila a bit confused as to what she could've helped the woman with.

Honestly, Laila had no idea. At first, she wished to ruin these rich kids, who had messed with her life for a few years, but then she just couldn't hurt Guzman like this since he was already going through so much. At the beginning of her interrogation, Laila cared little for Marina or at least tried not to show her concern, but in the end, she couldn't help but get emotional and cry for the redhead, not understanding when exactly her emotions got the best of her.

Nevertheless, what seemed like seven years in this interrogation room, Laila's testimony was finally done and yet she still had no idea who could've killed Marina. There were many suspects in her mind and ever since Marina's funeral, Laila had tried putting two and two of who could've done something this cruel.

At first, Laila thought it could've been Nano. Surely, she knew almost nothing about Marina's relationship with the man, just that he got her pregnant and she helped him steal watches of Carla's father. A good enough motive in Laila's mind, especially if Marina had changed her mind in the end, although she was not really sure she had. She also didn't wish to blame Nano even if he was a convicted person before. For some odd reason, it would've been too easy if Marina had been killed by Nano.

Then, and Laila truly wished for it to be false, there was Samuel as well. Heartbroken because of his unsuccessful first love, betrayed by his own older brother, Samuel could've easily killed Marina. He could've went back to the swimming pool after trying to change Guzman's mind unsuccessfully, probably having lost hope. A fight could've ensued and he could've killed her with the trophy that was still missing.

It could've been Carla too, although Laila lacked motive against the marchioness despite the watches theory, which was a rather big clue. However, Laila wouldn't be one to tell the detective about the watches without knowing anything important. Besides, after what had happened with Guzman she didn't even know whether she could've trusted him.

That brought her to her theory of Guzman, although Laila was almost certain he hadn't done anything to his sister. He had reacted too heartbroken to her death, but then again Laila felt as though she was being biased. He could've easily acted rage and grief out, perhaps he actually felt this way if he killed his sister, perhaps accidentally.

No, Laila thought as she began to stand up from her seat, feeling her legs numb down from having to sit down for so long. Guzman didn't kill Marina even if Laila had spent half an hour searching for him but to no avail that night. It would've been too cruel, and Laila would've felt terrible if she had liked a killer.
