The Mission After

It was the day after the hypobaric chambers and everyone was in the lab. Riley had a headache since she got home yesterday but she was unaware that Mac was suffering with the same problem.

Bozer seemed to notice, like he notices everything that his best friends try to hide.

"you guys should really take some painkillers for those headaches" He said with to bottles of water and some painkillers in hand.

"wait, you have a headache too?" Mac asked Riley

Mac was sitting on the opposite side if the table from where Bozer was. He walked over to Riley who was sitting next to Bozer, working on her laptop.

"yeah,since yesterday. But painkillers aren't really helping." she said massaging her forehead

As soon as Mac was within a half a meter from Riley, both their headaches disappeared.

Mac was about to say something but Matty, Russ, Parker, Desi and Docter Sandra walked in.

"how are you two?" Matty asked them

Riley was about to say that their fine because on behalf of both of them, they didn't want their friends to worry. Bozer on the other hand, beat her to it.

"don't even try to say your okay. Now, how long have you guys had these headaches?" Bozer asked

"headaches, you never mentioned any headaches at the morning check in" Doctor Sandra said with concern

"well,mine started yesterday when i got home but now it went away like it was never even there." Mac said a little confused

"same, started yesterday and vanished a few seconds ago. Weird" Riley answered

"okay well, i need Riley to do some updates in the server room." Matty instructed.

Riley packed her rig in her bag and started walking towards the door. Then both her and Mac winced in pain as the headache they thought had gone, come back worse than before.

"Are you guys okay?" Doctor Sandra asked

They didn't answer, they just stood there cradling their heads.

"okay, cancel what i asked Riley to do, you two are going to stay in the Phoenix infirmary until further notice." Matty ordered

Bozer helped Riley balance herself and Desi did the same for Mac. They started walking to eachother to see if the other was okay and again, once they within their half a meter bubble their headaches disappeared.

Why did it suddenly just disappear again? Riley heard Mac say

They looked at their friends as they were left in confusion.

"wait, Mac,take a step back" Russ instructed

He did so and there it was again. That agonizing punch to the brain.

"now Riley, take a step closer to Mac" Russ instructed again

She did and their headaches had disappeared. Which left them both confused.

Matty was catching on.

"okay you two, looks like what causes the headaches is being apart from each other" Matty concluded

So we cant leave each other? Mac heard Riley say

"huh?" Mac looked confused at Riley

"what?" she said with concern as she looked at him

"oh, i thought you said something" he said

"well, if you guys being inseparable is the cure to these headaches, then that shouldn't be a problem" Bozer said

They all laughed, but Mac and Riley laughed in an awkward blush filled laugh.

"so, i guess I'm coming with you to the server room" Mac said

"okay, just dont take apart anything" she playfully begged

With that, they walked out and headed to the server room. After about 10 minutes Riley had done what she needed to do and they were on their way back to the war room.

They saw every one gathered in there so they wanted to know what was happening.

"whats going on" Mac asked

"Desi, Russ and Bozer had to go out on an op but they need back up, and the tac team are an hour away, they'll never get there on time." Matty said

"then let us go" Riley said

"no way, what if you two get separated and can't focus on the op because of your headaches." Matty said

"i have an idea, but Riles, its up to you if you wanna do it" Mac said as he turned to face her.

"do it, our friends are in trouble, we have to go save them" Riley said

He motioned for a gaurd to come over.

"hey, can i borrow your handcuffs" Mac asked

The gaurd gave it to him and Mac then handcuffed him and Riley together. Both getting a shade redder at the thought of being handcuffed together.

"see Matty, we wont be separated anymore. Can we go save our friends now?" Riley asked

Matty gave them a nod and they were off.
