Alex's POV
Jack and I go to my house after school and I say "hey, mom!" She says "hey, what are you guys up too?" I say "working on a project" and she says "a project or a project?" I say "mom! School project, it's real" and Jack tries not to laugh and I say "were going upstairs" and she says "I'm going out, I'll see you guys later." She leaves and we go upstairs and Jack says "ya know, you don't have to act like you want to help with this, I'll write it if you want." We sit on my bed, facing each other and I rest my hands on his cheeks saying "no one wants to do school work but I'll help you cause I know you're a writer so you want to write the whole thing." He says "you know me more than I'd ever expect you to" and I take my hands away us laughing quietly and he says "I have to like what I'm writing about to write ten pages." I say "I think everyone does, so what are you thinking?" He looks at the page of social justice issues that we were told to pick from and he says "fuck that" crumpling the paper and throwing it across the room. He says "I got a topic" and pulls his notebook from his jacket and takes off his jacket and starts filling up a tiny page with a bunch of sub topics. I say "what are you thinking, babe?" I take my shoes off and the button up over my crop top and he says "shhh, give me a minute" and keeps writing. I wait and Jack says "I like it I think, to write this many pages you have to have a broad topic to start with, there aren't very many social issues I could write about, I think this one you will agree with." I say "spill the beans, pretty boy" and he says "LGBTQ whatnot, we can write about history like stonewall, how people would go to jail and whatever, we could briefly bring up Alan Turing or something. Then we could transition to gender identity and science of how there are three genders" and I say "we could do the difference between sex and gender." He writes it down saying "I like it, then we could talk about what all the letters mean but we have to make a point that there are more than just the letters" and I say "fair, I like that." He says "also, what about like the difference between romantic and sexual like in the things?" I chuckle saying "you worded that weirdly but yeah, I like that too" and he says "yeah, I did, then maybe if we don't fill it up all the way then we can come up with more topics then do we wanna bring up where we are now and bring up like hate crimes and whatever that has happened recently." I say "how about word it as, we're doing what we can now but it could be better and there are still issues so lets not act like everything is great." He says "I'm better at writing out my feelings about things on paper" and I chuckle saying "I get it, it's ok" and he says "if we feel like it we could talk about representation in movies and tv, that could be an opinion part, like we could write an opinion on whether there should be more or we are good where we are." I bite my lip saying "I like that too" and we nod and he writes some more saying "I think we have ten pages, about anyway" and we chuckle. I say "I'm sure we'd get pretty close with what we got" and he says "you're right" biting his lip and he smiles, looking up at the ceiling. He says "what is something you haven't done before since you haven't been on the mainland too much" and I say "correction, at all, we don't have chipotle" and he says "you're kidding?!" I say "no, what's the hype?" He says "it's wonderful, I'll take you sometime" and I say "is that a date, Jack?" He says "depends what your definition of a date is" and I say "smooth smooth" biting my lip and I blush and Jack says "you're blushing" and I say "shut up" and we laugh. I say "you're cute" and he smiles, biting his lip and he says "you're cute" and I blush saying "you aren't allowed to compliment me." He says "but you're allowed to compliment me?" I say "yes" and he says "well, that's not fair" and we laugh and I rest my hands on his cheeks saying "life's not fair, Jack" and we laugh harder. I pull my hands away and I say "we need an intro for that paper like a thesis" and Jack says "obviously, I forgot" and writes it down. I smile saying "it's ok" quietly and he bites his lip as he writes and I smile just watching him write. He says "I think I'm good, I'm gonna start writing this tomorrow, I gotta finish what I'm writing right now then I'll get this done" and I say "whatever you wanna do, let me know if you need help, ok?" He nods and we stand up and he says "I'm gonna go, I gotta go do stuff" and I chuckle saying "ok, I'll see you tomorrow?" We go downstairs and I hug him when we get to the door and he says "tomorrow" and I say "tomorrow." He leaves and I say "my god he's so hot" leaning against the front door on the inside and I go to the record player and put on a vinyl and play it quietly. I dance around the house boredly then I decide to go make some food cause I'm hungry and I make a sandwich and of course, all I can think about is Jack, he is the cutest and hottest thing I've ever seen.
