The next day at school, Kaylie found Iza in the morning when all the kids were eating breakfast in the cafeteria.
"Iza, I need to say sorry for yelling at you and calling you a liar. I've just had a bad history of people lying to me and I took all my anger out on you. Can you forgive me?"
Iza didn't want to forgive her, but she felt like she had to anyway, "Yeah I do..."
Kaylie looked at Iza.
Iza spoke again, "I'm sorry for lying to you..."
Kaylie didn't buy it, "What's wrong Iza?"
"Nothings wrong."
"You still look like you're sad though."
"I'm not... I'm just tired I think." Iza slowly blinked.
Kaylie decided not to press her anymore, "Okay, we're still friends right?"
"Yeah."
"Where was this maturity and kindness before?"Iza thought.
In Iza's study hall, she decided to write in her notebook.
The Queen of fire found herself at the mercy of her captors. She was somewhere deep in a forest, but in some kind of lab. There were people in lab coats with sharp looking tools everywhere.
She looked for a way to escape.
The scientists were speaking an alien language and the Queen was trying to scan the room for something useful.
Iza thought for a second.
She couldn't find anything in time.
The scientists tied her to the experimental table and grabbed their tools. They cut her tongue out and put it in a jar.
Iza stopped.
"What am I writing??"
She read it over again and got angry. She kept writing.
Then the scientists all laughed and set her free. The Queen ran out of the laboratory and made it outside. But there was a cliff there. She jumped off the cliff.
Iza thought about what to write next, but couldn't think of anything that would save her character.
"Oh well. She's dead then. The end."
She put her head down for the rest of the class period.
After the last bell rang, Iza headed over to her locker as usual, but this time Kaylie showed up.
"Iza! Hey my sister wanted to know If you had time this Friday to play mini golf with us! She was given an exclusive pass to play all day every Friday!"
Iza was surprised that Kaylie had really gone back to normal so soon.
"Oh uh, yeah I can ask my mom. I should be able to go..."
"Iza... cheer up! You still look sad!" Kaylie smiled sweetly.
"Why are you trying to cheer me up so badly?"
"Because I really don't want to see you looking like this. I also really like you and wanna be your friend."
Iza paused, then said, "Even though I'm a liar?"
Kaylie stopped and said, "I don't want to hold something like that over your head to be honest."
Iza looked sad, "Kaylie, what if I told you I lied again? What if I can't stop lying?"
"Then I'd forgive you again and we can work on it together."
Iza stared at Kaylie's face. Kaylie had a caring expression and was genuine. Then Iza decided to try to get under Kaylie's skin.
