So I just wanted to say:
I did NOT write this by myself. My friend Annabelle helped me write it and I just got her permission to upload it onto Wattpad!
I doubt she's going to go onto Wattpad and read this 'cause she has access to the original story, which is on google docs.
ONTO THE STORY!!!!
~Chapter Five~
You have failed us. For that you shall pay. It was that voice again - the one that she unconsciously remembered. The one that made her join the dark side. Lily shivered. You belonged to us, the voice hissed. We worshipped you. You were our queen. You were respected. And yet you have failed us, and led us to being banished to the Moon. You will pay, Moonlily. My former queen. Who are you? Lily whispered. Her voice echoed through the darkness. I am the power of a nightmare. Whose nightmare? Yours. I have come to say, to repeat - you have failed us, but it doesn't mean we can't rise again. We will find another queen. And that will be our time of revenge. It cackled. Lily screamed in her nightmare.
She shook awake with a bolt. She was wearing a set of ridiculously big pajamas, and lying on a feathered-bed in a small room. She glanced out the window - it was inky black. So it's nighttime. Where's the Moon? Then she realized what had happened. How long have I been unconscious? Wait - that's not the point. Nightmares are coming back. I need to warn my friends. She crept off her bed and toward the door. Then something fell to her heels. It was a gem. An opal. Then it came back to her. But shouldn't it be a sapphire? She put the opal pendant around her neck. It settled in perfectly and rested on her neck. It was pure-white. Opal . . . the gem of the Moon. Congratulations, Lily. You no longer belong to darkness. Now . . . your power is the Moon. There was a moment of calming silence. Then the door swung open. Moonlight peered in and found herself nose-to-nose with her sister. "Aah! When did you wake?" She yelped; quite happily, Lily observed pleasantly. "Just a few moments ago," she replied. "Why, Arisha, haven't you ever heard of knocking? Come," she said, gesturing for Moonlight to come onto her bed. Arisha hesitated for a moment, then followed. "First of all, I'm really sorry," Lily told her. Moonlight shook her head. "It's okay. The power of the Nightmare was controlling you." Lily looked at her, puzzled. "How did you know that?" Arisha grinned. "I read a lot of books on the topic of the Skull after this adventure," she explained. "And you talked in your sleep. I just came to check on you." "Oh." Lily dropped her eyes. Then she lowered her voice suddenly. "There's something I need to tell you. Nightmare has targeted another victim to control. I don't suppose you heard that, too?" "No," Moonlight said. "But that's dangerous news. Tomorrow will be the summer solstice. The Moon will have plenty of time before it rises. Who knows what they will do at that time?" "Speaking of the Moon," Lily told her younger sister. "I think there is something you need to see." She took out her opal gem and Moonlight gasped, then hugged her tightly. "Oh - Lily, I - I - I don't know what to say." Lily grinned. But she soon became serious again. "We need to find her. And we need to find her before she can envelop the world in darkness. The night cannot last forever." "Sheesh, big sister. I THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER ASK." "What time is it?" "Midnight." "WHAT!? How long was I out?" "A week." Lily felt queasy. "Oh. By the way, Lily...you might want to...look in your mirror." Lily turned around and screamed. It was clearly Lily, but her hair was light blue and her eyes were mint green. She still wore that silver bracelet.
The next night, the moon didn't rise. "Lily, why hasn't the moon risen yet?" Moonlight asked, rubbing her eyes. "I don't know." Lily said, not looking away from her window. "Try raising it." Aurora said. Lily raised her arms and the moon rose with them. "Cool!" Moonlight said. Suddenly the moon started wobbling, and then it was morning, and night, then morning, and night again. "Lily, the moon reacts to your emotions, you need to calm down!" Aurora said. "Deep breaths," Moonlight told her. Lily took a few deep breaths and the moon steadied itself. "Great. Now what?" Lily asked, sinking onto her bed. Moonlight and Aurora glanced at each other. "I don't know." Moonlight whispered. "I guess that's for you to decide." "Decide what?" "Where to go. What to do. What to say. You choose your path, Lily. You can't let anyone decide your life for you. Whatever path you pick, that's where you'll go." "But where am I going?" Lily asked. "We can't be sure. But we know that our destinies aren't intertwined. We'll come to the fork in the road eventually. Your destiny...it's not what you want." Aurora said, glancing at the silver bracelet that fit snugly on Lily's wrist, just tight enough so that she couldn't pull it off. "Here's the thing, Lily, the moon powers you. It gives you the energy you have. You won't really need to sleep - like, ever. Only little naps every month." Moonlight said. "So if Nightmare succeeds, you'll be the only one who can stop him. Or her. Does it have a gender?" Aurora asked. "It's a her." Lily whispered. "So...I'm basically a zombie. A ghost." "Well, when you put it that way, I guess you kind of are a ghost." "What's the point of being able to save the world if no one even knows me?" "Oh, no no no, they'll know you. What I meant is that you'll have to work harder to be noticed, but you aren't literally a ghost." Moonlight said. "But...you're very powerful, Lily. It's..." Aurora trailed off, staring out the window. The moon had started wobbling again, responding to Lily's emotions. "It's that you guard night and...and we...well, we have different purposes in this world." Moonlight finished. "But I don't know how." Lily protested. "Start small. One crisis at a time. Learn to control your magic. The moon is much more powerful than you think." A new voice said, and someone snapped their fingers, turning the lights. Jenifer was leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, her ice blue eyes twinkling in the light as she watched them with amusement. "But for now, Lily has somewhere to go." "Specifically where?" "Mortals - humans, are much easier to possess than someone with magic." "So where are we going?" Lily asked, standing up. "Niagara and I have talked," Jenifer glanced over her shoulder. "And we think we need to open the portal to America for now. Just a quick visit, so you know what you're up against." "You really don't look any different than what you looked like fifty years ago." Aurora said, studying her aunt. "Of course I don't. Anyone in the element continent never changes until they die. At least I don't have to worry about white hair, no offense to Eve." "So basically you're asking to drag my sister off to Eve knows where and hope she doesn't die?" "Yes, I am," Eve said, appearing at the door. "Oh - and none taken." She told Jenifer. "And we have agreed on something else," Adira added, following Eve. She tapped on Moonlily's silver bracelet three times. There was a bright light, and then it died down. Nothing changed. Moonlily glanced at her aunt, confused. "Don't worry - I have inserted the magic. It only doesn't show. As long as you wear it, you will be able to summon one person to your side. You need to choose now, before the magic dies down." Moonlily glanced around at the people around her - Aurora, Magnolia, Olivia, Moonlight - and she said without hesitation, "Moonlight Sunflame." There was another bright flash of light. Moonlight hugged her sister, wiping away tears. "Now, you need to depart immediately." "Before the sun rises." Eve added. Lily laughed. "What's so funny?" Jenifer asked, frowning. "The sun doesn't rise until I tell it to." Lily said. "Oh my air gods Lily, don't delay the cycle!" Olivia yelped. "But if I need to, can I?" She asked. "I suppose so." "Alright." Moonlight said, taking a deep breath and grabbing Lily's hand. "Let's do this."
