Skyler's P.O.V

"21 million," I answered Liam's question as he sits in the passenger's seat. "I'm worth 21 million. Not bad."

"You're not scared?" He sounded a little panicked while asking me and I shrugged my shoulders.

"When you've faced ninjas who killed..." I paused for a second trying not to face that reminder. I'd been doing that the entire time I was in France. "Our basic will to live you get used to being hunted down."

I like to ignore a problem until it goes away. Allison's death wasn't a problem. It was the reality that I was trying to avoid hurting for.

Turns out sleeping fixed the hurting part.

"You guys have been hunted down!" Now he was even more panicked. I say that's a job well done.

"Look kid you've got nothing to worry about!" I attempt to be positive while looking at the road. "When you have a banshee an Alpha a kitsune and a badass Skyler I'm pretty sure you've got nothing to worry about."

"What about St–"

"The two assholes who we don't name? Yeah, they're pretty useless in my opinion," I nod giving myself some type of reassurance. I needed it more than the beta. "Just worry more about what flowers your putting on my grave."

He laughed and I took that as a successful way of loosening up the nerve-wracked freshmen in Lydia's car.

Turns out having a friend that keeps a secret for a few months earns you car privileges for a week.

Especially when that secret is your ex-boyfriend getting with your ex-mental asylum roommate.

Might as well use the offer as much as I can.

"If you're a Hunter how can I trust you?" He questions and I groan.

I'm literally being interrogated by a child.

"You can't."

"Was that your boyfriend back there? Stiles?" He says out of nowhere and I widened my eyes keeping my eyes on the road. I hate freshmen. I didn't answer and then he raised his eyebrows. "Girlfriend?"

"God no," I laughed and then pursed my lips together. I hated Malia more now than I did before.

Liam narrowed his eyes as if he was waiting for me to explode or answer. His baby blue eyes stared at me long enough to seek out the truth.

I hate freshmen.

"Ex. But I don't wanna talk about it. Especially not to a fifteen-year-old I met twenty seconds ago."

"Did he dump you?" That's another question.

"You don't stop do you?" I gritted my teeth making sure to keep my mouth shut to the curious beta sat next to me. "Fine."

I groaned and pulled up in front of a big modern house.

"I left him. I left everyone here," I answer and he furrows his eyebrows as I finally turn to him. "Even Scott. I left Beacon Hills. That's what happened. Now would you get your ass out of the car?"

He paused for a second and stared at me. "Why would you leave Scott if he's your alpha?"

I let out a frustrated huff turning my full attention to curious George. But I had to remember he just had a pure heart and I couldn't slice him in half.

"Because when you get hurt the best thing to do is leave. Scott's a great alpha. And I trust him with my life just like that beta instinct of yours does," I explained and then looked over at my eyes in the rearview mirror. "I love him but the best thing to do is leave sometimes. Who knows maybe if you have a good connection you'll make your way back to him."
