4: Secrets Come Out

Next Day, Kate's POV

While Happy is driving me to school, we drive past the deli. It's almost completely burnt down. Police tape surrounds it. Officers and investigators are working around it. I sigh quietly, wishing I could of stopped it somehow. Happy looks over at me but doesn't say anything.

Time Skip

In the middle of a chemistry lecture, I notice Ned slide over to Peter and whisper in his ear. Peter looks annoyed. MJ looks over at me.

"What's their deal?" I ask her, putting safety goggles on.

"They have a weird relationship." MJ whispers back.

"No kidding." I say, thankful MJ is my partner.

Time Skip

In history class, the teacher is talking about the Sokovia Accords, which obviously I know all about. It started a war between the Avengers, after all. Which my Dad didn't let me fight in, unfortunately.

"The Sokovia Accords were put into place to begin regulating..." The teacher drones on.

Again, I see Ned sliding over to Peter and whispering. It's harder to see since they're sitting behind me and MJ.

"Shut up, Ned." I hear Peter say. MJ turns back and glares at them.

Time Skip

In P.E., we sit in rows on the bleachers, watching Uncle Steve give a speech on screen. MJ and I are sitting behind Peter and Ned, who again are whispering to each other. MJ is completely engrossed in a book called 'Of Human Bondage', which, of course, I've also read. I recommended it to her during lunch yesterday.

"...fitness can be the difference between success or failure." Uncle Steve says on the television. I hold back a laugh, still not understanding why he agreed to do infomercials.

"What?" Ned whispered loudly in front of us. I look at them. Peter nudges Ned and shushes him.

"Today, my good friend, your gym teacher..." Uncle Steve says. He points to his right. Coach Wilson, who is standing on the wrong side, waves his hand us. I chuckle softly, shaking my head. "...will be conducting the Captain America Fitness Challenge." He raises his hand in a salute. The screen transitions to 'Station I: Sit-ups'.

"Thank you, Captain. I'm pretty sure this guy's a war criminal now, but whatever." Coach says.  "I have to show these videos. It's required by the state. Let's do it." He blows his whistle.

MJ and are partnered up together. While I'm doing sit-ups on the mat on my own, MJ is sitting next to me, reading her book. After fifty, I take a break and look over at Ned and Peter who are partnered up together. Ned is holding Peter's legs and talking to him. Peter is about on his last nerve, I can see.

I begin my sit-ups again, and the gym teacher walks by. "Looking good, Bishops." He says with an approving nod. I realize I'm doing the sit-ups too easily, and try to make it look like I'm struggling. A group on the bleachers are talking.

"Now, see, for me, it would be F Thor, marry Iron Man, and kill Hulk." A blond girl says. Marry my Dad? Ew! I sigh and shake my head. I always hated this game, people unconsciously talking about fucking, marrying, or killing my family.
