To say Skid was in a bad mood, was an understatement. The skeleton-dressed child was having the worst luck he's had in a while. His best friend since he could remember recently went on vacation to the beach for a whole week, the candy store was closed due to some accident with stocking the candy, and ever since about two weeks ago, the funny clown in the ally hasn't been showing up!
The abnormally small child stomped down on the pavement as hard as he could (which actually wasn't very hard) while simultaneously walking. He just wanted his friend back. Everything seemed more fun with the silly pumpkin headed child around. Soon enough,he got back to his house. His mom greeted him when he walked in as she always does.
"Hello sweetie, did you have fun?" She asked. He knew she'd been trying to cheer him up lately, but didn't want to worry her any more. He gave a little smile and said his day was fine.
Skid rushed upstairs to text pump again, trying to get a response. Ever since he left for his vacation, he hasn't been answering. Of course Skid had enough trust in his best friend to assure himself he would be fine, but he still missed him. The Hatzgang were picking on him more frequently since he didn't have pump to rely on either.
After a few minutes, the skeleton kid let out a dissatisfied sigh and planted his face into his bedsheets. Soon,he heard a series of gentle knocks on his door, followed by his mother's voice. "Hey Skid, come downstairs, I have a surprise for you!" The word "surprise" made him perk his head up instantly, as would any kid.
He catapults himself off his bed and rushes down the stairs. When he got down the flight of stairs, he was met with two popcorn bowls, and ice cream tubs (one of which was his favorite flavor) "I rented that new movie you wanted! How about a movie night, just mom and son?" The kid was still in awe, but hastily nodded his head. His mother gave a warm smile, and took the snacks to their living room, where the movie was on the screen and on pause.
She sat him on the couch and soon threw herself on it too. "Thank you mom!" He practically screamed, hugging her tightly. In return she planted a kiss on the top of his paper white skeleton mask. They settled, and watched the movie. Skid couldn't wait to rewatch it with pump by his side, he was sure pump would love it. As they snuggled closer, his mom grabbed the remote and hit play.
~authors note: hi everyone! I'm sorry I took such a long break from this book and I'll really try to make updates more frequent this time. I'm not very good with remembering and I'm a very big procrastinator, but I'm back! Sorry if I'm a little rusty lol
