‼️Tw: slight descriptions of blood and injury!‼️
"Kevin!" Both kids shouted in unison, cheerful expressions mirroring the other's. After getting advice from the friendly homeless man in the alley, They quickly head in the direction of the candy store, having memorized it by now since their town was so small.
"You pesky little gremlins!" Kevin yelled, whipping his head all over the building searching for the mischievous kids who he had seen just steal from the store and also unfortunately failed miserably at catching, losing two customers in the process. When no response or movement was heard, he stood in confusion for a second, before seeing an abnormally small figure peek out from the storage room. As it revealed itself, it looked like a doll? With a light orange sweater covered by denim overalls. He sported short, shaggy brown hair swept to the side, with uneven eyes, an unnervingly wide smile that stretched across his face, and an almost firm chin, that was not fitting of it's childlike frame. He stood in shock for a while, processing what he is seeing standing right in front of him. It makes it's move, pulling a sharpened candy-cane from behind it's back and rushing him. Kevin realizes this, and runs, unsure of where to go or what to do. The creepy doll proves itself to be faster than it seems, effortlessly catching up to the panicked man, attaching itself to his calf, and unhesitatingly drives it's weapon deep into it. "YES." It cheers with a murderous tone to it's voice. Blood spurts from the wound as He sucks air through his teeth and unthinkingly grabbing the miniature creature and throwing it across the room. Anything to get it away from him. Luck was not in his favor it appeared, because while he stunned it for a moment, he unknowingly threw the cursed thing into the lollipop stand. It immediately gets back up, takes one by the stick, and bashes it on the floor, creating another makeshift weapon for it to attempt his life with. It looks at him and gives him a wretched grin before poising the weapon. "What to do, what to do-" he dreads. Before a not-entirely-foolproof plan comes into his mind. He sprints toward the gumball machine. He spins the lever like mad, stuffing gumballs into his mouth and sloppily chewing. just in time he spits it out into his hand and turns around to see the demonic childlike figure dash his way, ready to attack. He throws the pile of chewed up gum in front of it, and surprisingly, his plan worked. The doll stepped in it and was immediately pulled down to the floor with it. In screams in frustration, shouting at him with disturbing threats, all in great detail. While it was down, he grabs the trash can, emptying it out. It gets up, still threatening him, before he slams the top of the bin on it, effectively trapping it. He scampers toward the back door leading to the dump, and tosses the terrifying monster out. Locking the door, he slides down it with an exasperated sigh. He winces as he looks down at the disgusting gash in his leg. That might need some stitches. Before he could think further, the infamous kids he would see nearly every day stepped into the store, each greeting him with a smile. "Hi, Kevin!" Although immediately dropping to a concerned frown upon seeing his injury. "Oh- what- what happened to you?" The youngest, Pump, had said. "Not right now, kids..." he said exhausted. All he wanted was to lay in bed and sleep right now. They rushed over, getting increasingly worried. They both examined the wound before Pump raced over to the right of the store, while the oldest, skid, put his hand to his chin in perplexity. picking out some "auch's" from the shelf, pump scurried back over to the Kevin's side, ripping open the box. He pulled one out, licked it, and slapped it on. The candy chew barely covering his cut. He couldn't help but appreciate the effort. His face scrunches up in gratitude. His voice softens. "Thanks so much dude!" The pumpkin headed child responded with a simple thumbs up and smile, seemingly happy to help. Skid interrupts, looking somewhat nervous as he clasps his hands. "Listen, Kevin we need your help, uhh...we've lost our doll and we need to tell the police about it, and- and- it's just a really special doll... a-an-" "the doll i threw in the back...is YOURS?" He was nearly steaming with rage. But the kids didn't seem to get the memo that he was angry with them, instead their faces lit up with a smile. "Oh, its in the back?" Pump said. Skid was nearly jumping for joy and could barely stand still with all his excitement. What was so great about that doll anyway? He had seen advertisements for it and was always off-put by it's wide grin. He always felt...off about that doll, and now that he's seen that they're apparently maniacal, bloodthirsty demons hellbent on murdering whatever it sees, he now has the satisfaction to say his gut feeling was right. "Thanks Kevin!" They said in almost uncanny unison, and walked off. Skid still barely containing his elation. He suddenly felt fury envelop his body whole, as he raised his tense hands above his head...before letting out a deep, weary sigh, letting his hands drop to his sides. "...whatever." He said exhaustedly before the flimsy candy bandage fell off his numb leg.
