I hadn't meant to knock him out; sometimes, I don't even know my strength; I thought I broke his neck.

I blinked, watching the sun completely disappear into the horizon, the stars taking their place. I found myself staring openmouthed at what was shown before me. There were millions of them all over the sky, more than I've seen in my entire life. The constellations were breathtaking, and the only thing I felt at that moment was security. I felt safe on this beautiful tiny planet, even more safe with Son Goku. I turned around to look at him to find him already staring at me in wonder, his onyx eyes glittering from the reflection of the stars. I found myself staring at him, entirely captivated by clearly I could see them, even more in the way his eyes held them. "Not to be weird, but when your eyes reflect the stars like that.... it gives me goosebumps," I whispered as the warm breeze blew at our torn clothing. His brows furrowed, his expression gaining new intensity. it was strange, but it felt like he was staring into my soul. "Is that a good thing?" I could tell he was curious, but his current expression was something entirely different, something hungrier. "I think so... "I whispered, looking back up at the glittering night sky.

"I would love to see this every night, to be under it," I muttered to myself, blinking when I felt his hand grasp my wrist gently. he pulled me down into his lap and held me there. "You're my friend now, and you never hand anyone there to protect you before. I want you to know that I'll always protect you, no matter what. " He stared down at me in lap, a smile on his face. I blinked, feeling my cheeks flush, looking away back up to the sky. I was confused, I don't think he truly understands the more profound meaning of his words, but maybe that was me thinking too far.

He constricted his arms around me after a while, making it even harder for me to try and get out of his arms, not for the lack of trying. Every time I did, he'd pull me back with a grunt, his eyes on the sky. "I want to sit up.... it getting kinda cramped," I whispered, sighing as soon as he let me loose, scratching his head sheepishly. "Sorry about that..." he chuckled, scratching his head again. He was a happy person, but underneath I could taste the unhappiness. I know the emotion so well that it's so easy to spot.

"Being the strongest warrior in the universes..." I trailed off, still trying to grasp the fact that other universes exist. "...It must take an emotional toll. I'm sure you've lost many to get to where you are," I said, looking over at him as I sat next to him, trying to make conversation. He stared into my eyes as he digested the question, nodding his head. "You're right. I've lost so many friends. Some I couldn't wish back. they live on in my memories." He gave a tentative smile. "I lost my wife recently." He frowned and gave a slight shrug with his shoulders, plastering that same old giddy expression on his face.

Wow... his wife must have meant little to him if he switched gears like that...

I gave him a strange look, wondering what was wrong with him. "I'm sorry for your loss." I looked away, scratching my head, suddenly feeling out of place. He blinked before his eyes went wide. "Oh, she didn't die; she just finally gave up on me, I guess. I honestly don't think she was prepared for what we were going to be. She always screamed and yelled at me whenever I went to go train or whenever I used to take the kids out to train with me."He paused for a moment, staring at his large hands, flexing his fingers slowly.

The more I listened, the more I began to dislike the woman, and I didn't even know her. "She couldn't handle that I was the only one who could protect the earth from harm... after this tournament, she said that she wanted a divorce. I just realized too late that she would never actually love me for me. If she did, she wouldn't have tried to change me." He looked over at me and gave me a significant smile. "Your previous partner wasn't a Sayain woman, was she?" I rose a brow at him, rolling my eyes. She tried to make him ignore his natural fighting instincts; we were born to fight; it was what we enjoyed.

"ChiChi is human. " He leaned back onto his forearms, crossing his legs, staring at a blade of grass between his fingers. I sighed, shaking my head. "She would never understand your itch to fight; it's not in her blood to understand." I decided that because I was getting a little chilly, I crawled into his lap and curled up. He watched me with a small amused smile, constricting his arms around my form in silence. "Sleep. We'll talk more in the morning." The night breeze swept his whisper away, and my eyelids slowly fell closed.

****************

The sounds of animals singing woke me along with a loud snore, my eyes fluttering, seeing a bush of spikey hair in my vision. I blinked again when I realized that his head was on my chest, and he had his arms locked around my waist. His head was nestled comfortably on my breast as I watched a line of drool slithering down his chin. "Goku?" I grasped his shoulder and shook him as roughly as I could manage. He stirred, looking around, lifting his head to peer down at me. "Oh, Oh hey Tahil. "He plopped his head down on my chest again for a short moment, sitting up and stretching with a grunt afterward. "How did you end up on my chest?" I frowned, sitting up, glancing at him, still feeling the weight of his head on my chest. He stood up and popped his back and then looked down at me, holding out his hand. " I have no idea. You were curled up on my chest when I finally decided to lay down." He still had his hand stretched out to me. "You coming, or are you just gonna sit there?" His eyebrow arched up high, waiting for me to grab onto his hand. Reluctantly, I placed my hand in his, and he pulled me up. In the next instant, we were transported to a beach. The first thing my ears heard was the rushing of water and then laugher. Then the aroma of food caused me to close my eyes, tightening my hold on Goku's hand, dragging him with me. "Hey, guys. I wanna introduce you to someone." Goku called out as we made it over to the group of people. They all slowly turned in our direction, some with curious expressions watched, others were skeptical.

I don't want to be here...

I wasn't used to interactions with others; I was locked up in a lab most of my life. "Hey, Goku! it looks like she's better." A short bald man walked forward and waved as he made his way over. He looked at me with a warm smile, his hand outstretched to me. "Krillin, everyone... This is Tahil." I glanced up at Goku, reaching out to grasp and shake Krillin's hand. "Hello. " I waved, looking around at the group, noticing there were a lot of burly men here, capable solid fighters. One, in particular, I recognized, my eyes zeroing in on the one wearing glasses; he was dressed rather nicely; he also looked like Goku.

"You're a Sayain, aren't you?" I pointed to the young man, watching his brows raise, then furrow as he studied me. He then looked to Goku then back to me. " Half, not like you and dad." He smiled a familiar smile, my eyes widening in realization.

That must be his son...

I shook my head but smiled, wondering why everyone thinks that I'm a full-blooded Sayain. My attention was pulled away from the others and to the overly large area that held food. I took what I wanted and ate in silence, watching the gathering unfold, feeling out of place.
