(Y/N) POV
I was sitting on the bed curled in a ball for what seemed like hours. I didn't even realize that the day was over half done. I finally decided to just get up and look out on the balcony. I looked down and I noticed the goblins were bringing stuff into the castle, almost like they were decorating for something big. I continued to watch as more and more stuff was brought into the main entrance of the castle. Suddenly I heard a knock at the door, "(Y/N), may I come in please? I would like to properly apologize for my behavior earlier and make it up to you," I heard Jareth say on the other side of the door. "You can come in and apologize all you like, doesn't mean I am automatically going to forgive you," I said as I heard him sigh. "No, I guess it doesn't, but I would still like to try and make things better between us," he explained. I guess it couldn't hurt to hear him out. "Alright Jareth, come in," I told him. I heard him unlock the door and heard him come walking in. I turned to face only to be pulled into his arms and hugged gently. "(Y/N) I am so sorry for treating you like that, I shouldn't have locked you up or yelled at you down in the garden, I would like to make up for my behavior," he whispered in my ear. I was frozen, I never expected his apology to be so sincere. "I forgive you Jareth, I would also like to apologize, I guess just being here and having so much change in a short amount of time just made me sort of lose it," I said as I returned his hug. "No, you have every right to be upset, but I would like to make your new life here more homey from now on," he said. I was about to ask how when suddenly I felt something brush past my legs. I looked down and saw my dog and cat! "DUSTY AND STAR," I screamed as I let go of Jareth and pulled my pets into my lap.
"I figured you would like something from home so I went and got these two creature," Jareth explained. I stood up from my spot and pulled Jareth into a tight hug. "Thank you so much," I said as a few happy tears escaped my eyes. He stiffened at first, but slowly wrapped his arms back around my waist and returned my hug.
As we stood there for a minute, one of the goblins came in. "Your majesty..." the little gray goblin started. "What is it?" Jareth said with a sigh before letting me go to talk to the goblin. "Well we are just finishing some last minute details for your um, you know, and we just wanted to make sure it was to your liking" the goblin said. I looked at Jareth, confusion written all over my face. "Ah yes, I will be down in shortly," Jareth said. With that the goblin left, "sorry my dear I must return to my duties, but please change into something more formal for dinner tonight, I have a surprise for you," Jareth told me. "Alright, I guess I will see at dinner then," I said as he left back downstairs.
*Time Skip*
I looked through all the dresses in the closet and I just couldn't find a dress to suit me. All of them were just to extravagant and just too much to wear to a simple dinner. I looked and saw a pink dress that seemed simple at the bottom but the top was extremely decorated, then I saw a black dress with a simple top, but a very ruffled skirt. Hmm I wonder, I looked and found a sewing kit in one of the drawers by the closet. I cut the skirt off of the pink dress and the bodice off of the black dress and grabbed a needle and thread and sewed the pink skirt to the black bodice. I then slipped on the dress and looked in the full mirror next to the closet. I will admit I looked pretty good in this dress. I then made my way down to the dining hall for dinner.
As I made my way down the stairs I heard some beautiful music playing and heard a lot of people chatting. I finally made it downstairs and was greeted by a thousand stares all coming from people dressed in some of the fanciest clothes I had seen. I look around to find Jareth, but I am unable to spot him. Suddenly a group of women came up to me, "you, what are you?" the lady in purple said. "I am a human, why," I respond, and all of the women suddenly burst out laughing. "A human, is this our competition now? Really Jareth has stooped so low as to getting a human to keep him company now," another one of the women said as she and the others walked away laughing. I couldn't help but feel a pang of hurt, as they walked away laughing and talking amongst each other.
