Dirk plopped down on his bed in his room, looking around at his various posters and metal parts lying around. He looked up and saw Cal lying across the head-bored of his bed. He smiled he hugged the puppet close to his chest like he used to do when he was little.
He thought about the boy he saw earlier today at school. He wouldn't see him again till Monday. Bluh...
Dave wasn't home, so he had the house to himself. But it was so nice outside. "Gaah... I want to catch up on My Little Pony, but I want to go outt..." He mumered aloud to himself. "Cal, what should I do?" He held the puppet above him. Dirk knew Cal couldn't talk, but it made him feel better when he was alone.
Dirk decided to go out. He got out of the clothes he went to school in and put on his signature shirt, with an orange fannel over it and some jeans. He grabbed his wallet, for just-in-case measures.
Dirk headed to the nearest pastry shop that his friend Jane had owned. He was in the mood for something sweet. He walked into the little shop and looked at the crowds of people, eatting dounts and various cupcakes.
"Hey Dirk!!" Jane waved at him from behind the counter.
Jane was a sweet girl. She had short black hair. She wore oval-shaped glasses and currently her face was covered in flour and a bit of icing from the cupcakes.
"Hey, Crocker." Dirk leaned againest a part of the counter that wasn't in line. Jane walked out from behind the couter since no one was in line.
" So, what's up? " Dirk started the conversation.
" Baking pretty much everything at once. What about you? " Jane asked.
" Just strolling, when I thought I could have some of Crockers famous sweets." Dirk said.
Jane wooped up six small cupcakes. 3 for Dirk, and 3 for herself. He stayed a bit, talking to Jane, before realizibg he needed to be home in 5 minutes. "Sorry to be rude, but I have to head out. See you tommorow?"
"Yeah, of course!" Jane smiled. They waved to each other and Dirk left. In the doorway, he bumped into a guy.
" I-i'm sor-" Dirk looked at the person who he bumped into. Ot was the boy that he saw earlier. He couldn't finish his sentence.
" It's okay." The boy smiled at him. He had an accent that made Dirk melt inside. It was just so adorable.
Dirk had to say something so he didn't seem like an Idiot. " N-no, seriously, I should've seen were I was going."
" Really, it's fine." The boy smiled at him. " Well, I have to be heading off now. I'll see you around." He walked inside. Dirk had to say something. His name, his phone number, the fact he saw him at school, anything.
" W-wait! " Dirk didn't want to hold him up he had to be home by a certain time. " I think I've seen you before." The boy turned around and looked at Dirk and thought.
" Well, I have transferred to Alternian High School." He said.
" Yeah! I saw you in the hall being shown around by the principal. " Dirk told him, to see it would refresh his memory.
It was a moment before finally it snapped. " Ah! Yes! I belive I remember you from the hall!"
Yes! Dirk finally got him to remember him. " Yeah! So, umm, what's your name, by the way?"
"Jake! Jake English. What about you?"
"Strider, Dirk Strider. Nice to meet you Jake."
The two talked for a while. Dirks heart fluttered every time Jake spoke. After a while, Dirk looked at his phone. 9:00PM. He was late.
"I have to go home now, but one ladt thing." Opened his contacts. "Can I have your number?"
" Of course! Here," Jake took Dirks phone and typed in his number. " There you go!"
The two boys waved good bye to each other and Dirk left. He cheered on the inside. He walked inside his house. "YES!!" He cheered. He flung hinself over the arm of his couch.
Dave walked out of his room. "Are you okay?"
"Mmmhmm. I'm just fine."
