I headed for the South Pole.

I made the choice. If my family won't let me help them, maybe the one person I have left in my family will understand. I needed to see my Gran-Gran. Even with the dangers of being caught by Unalaq.

Once I got right to the outskirts of the South Pole I stood up. Jiri stopped moving foward. "Jiri. Go home, stay safe for me. You're all I have." Jiri grunts out a whine. "I know. I'm gonna miss you too, but one of us needs to live to see the new world after all this. It deserve to be you more than me right now." Jiri whines one last time. I sigh and take out my glider. I jump off Jiri and used my glider to slide down to one of the unknown entrance of the South Pole. Me and Korra made it when we were little. It was my life's mission, at the time, to get her outside. Even if it was just for a minute. I climbed through the small hole that me and Korra made forever ago. It puts my right behind my Gran-Gran's house. I sneak around to her front door and rapidly knock on it.

"Who is it?" She asks, softly.

"It's me Gran-Gran." My voice breaks. I cough. "It's Jay-Jay."

She opens the door and quickly pulls me inside. "Oh, Jay. I'm so glad you're okay. Where is everyone else?"

"No clue. I came alone."

"Why?"

"It's a long story."

"I got time. I always have time for you."

"Okay, Uh, where to start, where to start. Well, two, almost three, years ago Aang contacted me, spiritually and told me to come home. We spoke occasionally, but I never told anyone because I know how Tenzin gets. Recently, when the South Pole's spirit portal was opened, Aang contacted me again. I met the first Avatar and he told me everything about what's about to happen. Spoiler, it might be the end of the world as we know it. I kept that from everyone number one, out of fear and shock, and number two because I had no idea where Korra was and I knew I couldn't do anything without her around. Then, when we were at the Eastern Air Temple, Korra showed up. That's when I told them everything I knew. My dad tried to get her into the spirit world and it didn't work, because he's never been. Jinora revealed her secret, which was having a connection to the spirit world, but no one got mad at her. So, I told them all off and Korra knows I was in love with her."

Katara blinks at me. "Wow."

"Yeah. But now my whole family hates me and you're all I have. And I couldn't just go home knowing what's happening. I just couldn't."

"I'm sure they don't hate you. Plus if they do that doesn't mean I do. I could never hate you. I understand the position you're in."

"They hate me, Gran-Gran." I started to sob softly. "What am I going to do?"

"Come with me." I heard Unalaq's voice from the front doorway. Katara steps in front of me to protect me. "Join me, Jinpa. I heard the whole story. You're family has treated you wrong. They deserve the punishment of chaos."

"Leave, Unalaq." Katara warns him. Unalaq immediately waterbends her to the side. I throw some air under her to catch her. With my free hand, I send a gust of wind to Unalaq. He goes flying back. I run to Katara.

"Gran-Gran! Are you okay?"

"Yes, but you have to run."

"Too late." Unalaq says. He makes a lasso of water and wraps it around me. He solidifies it into ice so I can't escape. He pulls me away from Katara with such force. Unalaq drags me to the base around the spirit portal, much to my dismay. He throws me down to the ground near the portal. "You just had to fight."
