---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You see the big, modern mansion on the side of the cliff. It's overlooking the city and in the distance, the "Hollywoo" sign can be seen. You feel your heart pounding in your throat and wipe the sweat on your pants. You want to throw up and swallow it back down, wishing you had brought water with you. You think of texting Todd that you're here but decide not to text and drive. You pull up to the golden gates of BoJack Horseman's house. They open up as if by some magic act and you quickly take a glance at your phone, there are no texts. There's already a couple of cars in the driveway and you can hear the music from inside the house in your car. You try to find a parking spot but then decide to just park wherever because that's what it seems everybody else is doing.
There's a huge wave of heat and humidity thrown at your face when you step out of the car. You leave your jacket on the passenger's seat and hope it's not cold inside his house. You check your phone again and there are still no texts, so you decide to text him first. "hey todd, I'm here". You get an immediate response back with "cool. party's started, just come on in". You put the phone in your back pocket, double-check that your car is locked, and make your way to the door. The music gets louder as you approach the building and wonder what BoJack is doing right now. You never watched any of his works; you tried to get through Secretariat but it was extremely boring and you never gave Horsin' Around a chance. Plus, it's not like you were alive in the '90s to have been able to see it. You open the door to a bunch of people milling around and drinking beers. It's unbearably hot inside, you scan the crowd for Todd but only notice that the door to the patio is open. You grab your back pocket to feel your phone still there; you think about checking it but decide to melt into the crowd by grabbing a beer from one of the coolers. The cement floor is cool and you consider laying down on it to relieve yourself of the drowning heat. The beer is lukewarm at best and you throw it back into the cooler, looking for something else to hold so you don't look awkward. You start to consider what you think of BoJack. Since you've never seen anything he's been in you don't really know what to make of him. No one that you're friends with really takes a particular like to the guy, except for Todd you suppose. Even then Todd never really talks about him, and when he does it's not necessarily in an admiring manner.
The music is too loud and you feel your head pound. You get a whiff of cigarettes and some sort of alcohol and you think it's the party, but then you see a tall creature walk past you, huffing and shuffling his way through the house. You look up at them but they've turned the corner and they're gone. You don't know what to do, you've been sitting there for a couple of minutes just staring at the crowd and no one seems to really be doing much, but they all hang around for some reason. As you're about to take your phone out you spot some red and yellow outside. It's probably Todd. You get up and make your way through the sweaty and half-drunken crowd. The cool California night air hits you and everything is lit up by the pool light. Todd is talking to someone and then they leave, leaving him standing around. You look at the pool again and intrusively think that you hope no drunken person accidentally falls in and drowns. You make your way over to Todd and tap his shoulder, he turns around and gives you a big smile when he recognizes you. Your heart warms and you go in for a hug. He smells like old furniture and a hint of bourbon. You glance at the pool again, trying to get rid of that thought. Todd is looking out onto the city and stubble lines his face, the curly blue hair sticking out from under his wool beanie. You turn your head to look at the party going on inside, which is starting to turn more into a super lame hang out with almost everyone too drunk to move from their spot; trash littering the floor. Todd then asks you if you're having a good time and you nod your head, stay quiet for a second, then ask where the bathroom is. He points inside and tells you that it's the door at the end of the hallway. You thank him and head back inside. You seriously cannot understand why anyone would still be here, it is almost 1 am and no one is having fun anymore. You think about the pool again and panic.
