Chapter 8 - Jaxon and AP Math

"So..what are you doing here?" I question Rian.

"Uhhhh. I go to school here. Duh!" I flush red.

Oh my gosh! Elaine! Why would you ask something so stupid. Of course he goes to school here! Why else would he be here! To go shopping?

I nod my head and pick up my fallen backpack. "So! I've never seen you here before. Did you transfer schools to be here with me? Awww. I know you like me, but quite frankly, you're not my type. Don't get your hopes up, Coffee Bean."

"I'm not here because of you." I simply say. "Now if you'll excuse me. I need to find my math class." I shove him out of the way and squeeze past the small crowd that formed.

"O.M.G! Elaine! You know the Rian Moore! How?" South shrieks racing up to me.

"He torments me at my job. He also will not leave me alone." I angrily say. "Besides what's so special about him. He's just a guy."

South stares at me wide eyed and mouth agape. "Just a guy. Just a guy! Are you crazy! His dad sponsors the entire district and owns his own company! Rian is single handedly the most popular boy at the school and most liked. You get on his good side and everyone loves you. You get on his bad side, everyone is out to get you. Even the teachers. Play your cards right. But don't fall for him. He is a player."

I roll my eyes at her, "You like him don't you?"

"What! No! Just his friend. Jaxon." A dreamy look places itself on her face.

"Who?" I ask. Confused. The only boys I've seen with him are the Asian boy and Drama Queen.

"That boy." South whispers and points to a brown haired boy with chocolate brown eyes.

"Drama Queen!" I exclaim.

"What?"

"Nothing." I quickly respond. I meet his eyes. A shocked look covers his face. Then his eyes transform into a glare.

Glaring back I childishly stick my tongue out at him. He rolls his eyes and goes back to a conversation with two guys I've never seen before.

South continues to gaze at him. "Ummm. I'm just going to go now." I awkwardly say.

I turn around and wander off to find room 16.

Okay. Room 11 is here. Maybe I should just keep walking down.

As I pass room 13 I see a couple making out against the lockers. "Gross." I mutter under my breath.

I see the girl's hand snake under his shirt and his hands begin to knead her breasts.

Why am I watching this?!

I quickly look down and speed walk down the hall.

Room 15. . .

Room 17. . .

Wait.

What?

I quickly look back and scan the room numbers. Seeing all the numbers in place except 16. I look across the hall. Room 16! There it is! But why is it on the other side of the hall?

I chuckle at myself and walk slowly toward the room. Taking a deep breath I push the door open.

Multiple pairs of eyes look at me.

"Ah! You must be Elaine! Welcome to AP math!" Wait. Did she just say AP? "I'm Miss. Choi! You can take a seat over there." She points to the window. A single empty desk.

I nod and make my way over. Eyes following my every move. After a few minutes of quietly staring at me everyone goes back to talking with each other in hushed voices.

I gaze up at the small black and white clock. 8:10. Still have five more minutes.

I take the time to scan my teacher. Her thin black hair is tied tightly in a bun on her head. Pale glass skin sparkled under the fluorescent lights. Bright brown eyes sparkle as she smiles.

Sighing, I look back up at the clock. 8:11.

I begin to look around the small classroom. Single desks placed in rows over the white tiles. A small rug lays in front of the whiteboard. The teacher's big desk rests in the back of the room cluttered with papers and pens. The walls are decorated with posters and wall decals.

8:12

This is going to take forever.

"Remember everyone! Do pages 89-95 today for homework!" Miss. Choi calls out as everyone files out the door.

She is one strange teacher. One moment she was helping a student out then the next she was screaming at him for breaking a pencil.

A pencil.

I'm not kidding. Then, multiple fights broke out just in the span of five minutes. It was crazy and it's only 9:00. Someone, save me.
