Chapter 23

"It seems that the Godess died..." he said and smirked, sitting on his stoned throne. "What will the dark wizard do?" There was a moment of silence, before he talked again. "It's a shame really... she was so nice. She wasn't even scared of me, when I went to see her." his smirked grew wider. "I may have went overboard when I kissed her, but it doesn't seem like she hated it either."

"What the fuck happened here!?!" he yelled and ran towards the immobile couple. "Lucy?!"
"Calm down Cobra... I'm... I'm sure she's fine."
"Doesn't look fine to me." Cobra retorted and looked around. "Why are they all paused?"
"Let me..." Midnight said and made his way towards the unmoving Zeref. He kneeled down beside him and put his hand on Zeref's shoulder, closing his eyes.
"And?"
"Be patient." Midnight muttered and after a while, everything started to move again. He stood up and stood beside Cobra.

"I shall kill everyone of you! I am the supreme—"
"Shut up!" Cobra yelled and punched Lunar in the face. He flew away and passed through the wall of the guild, creating a large hole in the building's wall.

"Wendy!" Zeref shouted, Lucy still in his arms. "I need Wendy!"
Wendy heard her name and immediately ran towards Zeref. She kneeled down beside him and hovered her hands above Lucy.

"What happened!!!!???!!!!" Gray and Natsu yelled, running over towards them.

"Lucy!" Nastu said, kneeling down beside them, devasted.
"I-I can't do anything. She's-she's d-d-d-dead..."
"What?!" They all yelled. Zeref sobbed, holding Lucy's cold body in his arms.
"You gotta be kiddin', Wendy! Luce... Luce is not dead... she can't be..."
"Lushi..." Happy cried and hugged Natsu for comfort.
Natsu gritted his teeth and jumped up to his feet. "Lucy's not dead!!!" he shouted and ran out of the guild.
Tears brimmed everyones eyes. The most emotional of them falled as for the others their tears hovered in their eyes, unable to shed them.

The only thing you could hear were sobs and Zeref's voice who keeps mumbling Lucy's name over and over again. That is until they heard a piercing cry.

"No! Please have pity! Don't kill me please!"

Cobra, Midnight and Gray snapped their heads up from the voice and sprint out towards the hole Cobra created when he punched Lunar.

Natsu's flames flamed a bright blue fire. A fire no one has seen him produce by himself before. Lunar screamed and screamed, he shouted for mercy, for pity. He doesn't want to die and certainly not by this monster's hands of hell.

"Help me! Help me!" he cried as his eyes gazed at the three mages who had just come. "Help me please..."

Natsu's eyes showed no mercy, but only infinite rage and sadness. He had just lost his best friend, his teammate, the light to his flames. He will not give mercy to someone who stole his friend's life away and certainly not for someone who did it only for power. His fangs gleamed, glaring at Lunar. Lunar who before was a beauty is now only a burned mess. Some of his skin was melted off, showing his bones.

"Natsu..." Gray uttered, terrified by his friend's actions. Lunar was very close to death.

The two Oracion Seis—ex-criminals—...even though they are now on, a sort of, the good side, couldn't but help but like what they were seeing. They want this bitch to suffer hell for what he did to Lucy. Lucy who didn't deserve to die. Lucy who was the light. They can't but help wanting to join in or encourage the fire dragon slayer.

"Midnight..." Midnight turned around to see the two exceeds, Wendy and Zeref holding Lucy making their way over towards the show. "Can you hold Lucy please..." he whispered, his voice dry and eyes red from crying.

Midnight nodded and took Lucy from Zeref's arms. Zeref stared at Lucy a moment and then walked towards Natsu, who was still burning the begging Lunar.
He put his hand on Natsu's shaking shoulder and Natsu snapped his head towards him, tears falling from his furious eyes to his cheeks.

"I'll finish the job, Natsu." Zeref said softly. "Leave him to me."
Natsu calmed down by Zeref's presence, something he never thought he could do and let go of the crying Lunar. He stepped away and made his way towards Happy, however without giving a last murderous glare at Lunar. Zeref leaned down in front of the crying burned Lunar.

"Thank you, thank you!" he cried out.
"Oh? What are you thanking me for?" Zeref asked, tilting his head to the side. "I'm not saving you."
"But Lord Zeref—"
"Lord? No, no, no, no, no... I am no Lord to you. You can't even utter my name. Do you understand? You don't even derserve to talk... but I will let you because I have a question to ask you... Can we bring back Lucy?"
Lunar widened his eyes, well his eye... as the other one melted off, dangling from his socket.
"Well?" Zeref said, waiting.
"I... I don't—"
"I'm not asking you if you know, I'm asking you if you can."
"I could well... give back her magic?"
Zeref gritted his teeth in anger and glared at Lunar. "I will take her magic." he told him and grabbed his neck, taking every part of Lucy's magic that Lunar stole. Then he pressed harder, cutting Lunar's respiration.

"I think you should cover your eyes." Cobra stated to Wendy and the exceeds. "You won't like what's coming." they did as he said. "However I don't think you'll like the noise either..."

"Carla bring Wendy away where she can't see or hear."
Carla huffed. "Yes I know. You did not have to tell me." she said and grew her wings, grabbing Wendy and flying off.
"Happy you should go too." Natsu said. Happy nodded, without discussing and followed Carla.

Lunar clawed Zeref's wrist, trying to get Zeref to let go. However Zeref didn't pay attention to it as his grips harder. Lunar chokes, begging for air. A black murderous aura surrounded Zeref and the others had to step back. The black aura traveled to Lunar's body and he screamed. He screamed even though he was choking.

Zeref's magic was eating him from the inside.

The rest of his skin, the skin who wasn't burned by Natsu's fire of rage, started to turn inside. A strong smell hovered in the air. The scent of death and decay.
Zeref was disintegrating Lunar from the inside. A great amount of blood, leaked under his body. Some of his intestines falled off from inside his body. Zeref let him go and watched Lunar's body decay and die in front of his eyes. The only thing left of him, after a while, was his blood, an eye, intestines and his heart. Natsu and Cobra covered their sensitive noses, the scent horrible. Zeref stared at the body who killed his girlfriend and walked off, with no emotion. The others followed after a while, hypnotized by the dead body of Lunar.

"How are we going to explain it to the magic council?" Gray asked, his skin paler than usual. He was sick.
"Why should we explain it to them?" Zeref asked.
"One things for sure, we can't hand Zeref over to them." Natsu stated and the others looked at him, shocked from his statement.
"So... what do we—"
"We can tell them that the wretched Master of Black Moon stole Lucy Heartfilia's powers... however the power was too much for him and he died."
"Like that?" Gray uttered.
"Yes..."
"You can't really blame him..." Midnight whispered, still holding Lucy in his arms.
The others kept quiet and then, suddenly Zeref stopped in his tracks, causing the others to do the same.

"Who's going to tell the guild that Lucy's..." he stopped and swallowed dryly. "...dead?"
