Another day another bruise.

I got up for work going to the bathroom.

I looked in the mirror winching as I looked at my face and breast.

I quickly grabbed my makeup kit to try and cover up my face.

I wouldn't worry about my breast so much I'll just make sure to cover it.

I looked at myself in the mirror again before walking off.

What have I become?

I no longer recognized who was in the mirror. It was just a lost soul trying to keep fighting.

This wasn't Masika Lewis. This was just a man's pushover.

"MASIKA" I heard my younger sister, Amaza yelled breaking me from my thought

"YEAH?" I yelled back to get no response

I rolled my eyes before I continued to finish getting dressed.

I then went into the living room to see her standing at the front door with her arms crossed.

"How's your face?" She asked

"Good. Why?" I asked trying to play it off

"Dave put his hands on you again didn't he?"

"Dave would never" I said and she rolled her eyes

"Masika—"

"Amaza" I said

"This is serious. I told you the first time this happened to leave. Why do you insist on going back to him?" She asked letting out a sigh.

"We're getting married" I said and tried to form a smile showing my ring.

"Masika it's not too late to get out of this" she said. "That man beats you please leave him"

"He doesn't beat me" I said

"Show me. Right now" she said and lifted my shirt. "What's this?"

"I fell at work. It's fine Zaza" I said and gave her a small smile leaving out the house.

I work as an photographer.
