The drive to Lando's house took 4 hours because of all the traffic. I would've got the trains down, but I didn't fancy trying to navigate my way through all of the connecting journeys. I'd left at 7am on the Thursday, joking to Lando that he'd be paying for the amount of fuel that I'd used up. I was going to be staying the night at his because there was no point making a 4-hour journey and then only staying for 2 hours. I pulled into the drive, pushing the centre of the steering wheel down continuously just to piss him off as I parked my car. He opened the front door a few seconds later, the expression on his face reading 'are you fucking kidding me?'.
"My neighbours are going to file a noise complaint," he said when I got out of the car, pulling the bag from the passenger seat with me.
"Sounds like a you problem."
"Do you actually want to sleep in a bed? Or would you prefer the floor?"
He let me in the house, shutting the door behind me, and then stepped past me to go upstairs. I followed him.
"This is your room," he said, opening a door at the end of the landing. "Just to warn you, I've hidden numerous alarm clocks that are all set to go off at various times throughout the night. Good luck!"
"Oh, shut up." I dropped my bag onto the bed.
"This is the bathroom; this is my very sparsely equipped gym; this is my room; and this is the famous gaming room."
"Nice lighting."
"I know right? Come on, let me show you the basics so you don't completely embarrass yourself on Twitch later, then we can go out to get lunch, if that's alright with you."
"Yeah, sure."
"Cool, sit down and pick a game."

"Hey, guys! Oh, Monaco was great, I should've streamed while there, I think."
Lando's voice was slightly muffled through the door that separated us. He'd told me to wait outside the room so he could make a proper announcement and surprise the people on the stream. It was 8pm, and we'd eaten lunch at a cute little café, then gone for a walk around the local park. He'd taught me some basics of Rainbow Six Siege, and I'd played a few rounds of it. I was not very good. We'd ordered in pizza, agreeing not to tell each other's trainers, and then had ice cream for dessert. It had been a good day overall.
"Okay, yeah the surprise, I know, I haven't forgotten guys, don't worry,"
Lando laughed, "Yeah, I know."
He was obviously reading and answering the messages.
"Okay, guys, are you ready? Yeah? You can come in now," he shouted the last sentence, and I opened the door.
"Heya, guys!"
"Jesus Christ, the chat is going wild," Lando chuckled.
"Oh yeah?" I sat down in the chair that we'd dragged from his office and looked at the computer screen that had the chat messages up. I laughed at the flurry of messages that kept coming up, trying my best to read as much as I could.
"Yeah, Monaco was awesome, I'm looking forward to Canada, though." I kept reading the questions that popped up on the screen. "Awh, thanks, I'm glad you liked the dress, it cost me a lot of money," I laughed.
"Go ahead and tell them exactly how much," Lando said.
"The dress was like, £2500 and the heels were £750. Yeah, that is a lot of money, you're right. Although, I'm pretty sure that Charles' suit was more."
"Yeah, it was something like £8000, in English currency anyway," Lando confirmed before continuing. "Right, Jessie is going to play some Siege, and we're all going to laugh at her because she's really bad."
"Hey!" I punched his arm lightly.
"Okay, maybe she isn't too bad."
"Oh no, he's right, I am terrible."
"Jessie, shut up and swap seats so you can play."
"God, yes mum."

It was about 12.30am, and I was just drifting off to sleep, thinking about the stream. It had gone on for about 2 and a half hours, and as much as I hated to admit it, Lando was right: it was fun. I enjoyed it. A shrill ring cut through my head, and I sat up sharply.
"LANDO! YOU MOTHERFUCKER!" I screamed out as I realised what was happening, and I could hear hysterical laughter from down the landing. I swung myself out of bed and went in search for the alarm clock that he'd hidden. It didn't take me long, and I shut it off.
"If I'm not sleeping, neither are you," I muttered, opening the bedroom door and making my way towards his room. I found him in his bed, facing the ceiling, with his hands over his eyes, crying at the hilarity of his little prank.
"You are a bitch. I hope you know that."
I only aided his laughter, and I reached over and flicked on the lights to his room. He pulled the covers up over his head.
"No, turn the light back off," he groaned.
"If I'm not allowed to sleep, neither are you."
"Okay, fine. I'll come and get all of the alarm clocks out of your room. Hang on," Lando said, throwing back the covers and standing up.
"You sleep in joggers? God, you psychopath."
"I would sleep in my boxers but you're here, so, I decided against it. And you literally sleep in a t-shirt, shut up."
He walked around my room, pulling out four more alarm clocks and resetting them as he did so.
"Why do you have so many alarm clocks?"
"Um, I'm not sure actually. I just found them."
I gave him a funny look.
"Shut up."
"I'm not saying anything."
"Your look says it all."
"Are you going back to your room or are you just staying in mine?" I said impatiently.
"I think I might stay here, actually," he said, falling back onto the bed. I sighed and retrieved a pillow, smacking him in the face and making him pout.
"Rude!"
"You're the one on my bed."
"Technically, because this is my house, it's my bed."
"Okay, fine, the bed that I am sleeping in."
"You're not sleeping in it right now."
"Lando!"
"Jessie!"
We scowled at each other.
"Just let me go to bed," I huffed.
"Nothing's stopping you."
"You are on the bed."
"That isn't stopping you."
"Get off," I said, taking a hold of his arm and pulling it to try and get him to stand up. He pulled back, causing me to fall onto him. Awkwardness suddenly filled the room, and I was thankful that the darkness hid the scarlet twinge that fell over my face.
"Uhm-"
"Sorry, I didn't mean to pull you-"
"Let me just-"
"Here let me just help you up-"
"I've got it-"
"Sorry-"
"Your ring is caught in my hair-"
"Shit, I'm sorry, Jessie, I didn't mean-"
"It's okay, don't worry about it."
"Are you sure? I feel really bad."
"I'm sure, now go to bed, it's like, almost 1 in the morning," I laughed, trying to clear the air.
"Yeah, uh, goodnight, Jessie," Lando said, closing the door behind him and walking back to his room.
