One.

It's been 3 months since the surviving group of humans escaped the crumbling collapse of the last city and WCKD and escaped into paradise.

Life's been going well for everyone involved.

Finally, all of them have the chance to stop running and just surviving and start settling down and living.

For many, that's what they've wanted since the whole situation with the virus and WCKD arose and they eagerly adapt to their new lifestyle.

For a select duo, the horrors of the past still cling on tightly onto them and refuse to let go.

...
(Two Months Before)

While Thomas was still recovering from his gunshot wound, they group of roughly 100 people began to sort themselves out to see to the development of the settlement they now made. Out of the 100, around 30 were adults. The rest of the 100 were made out of the surviving Gladers, kids people from group B, the 28 immunes and a bunch of other kids they rescued on the way out.

They all agreed on creating a council which would decide the development and next movements of the settlement. Of this council was the following;
-Minho
-Frypan
-Brenda
-Jorge
-Aris
-Sonya
-Harriet
-Vince
-Gally
-Thomas (They knew he would have to be on this council).

With this decided, the council began to delegate roles and jobs to everyone. Many of them were given their original roles from the Glade.

Minho was made Keeper of the Runners. His job was to find and recruit those who were physically up for the task of, well, running. Unlike the Runners' old job in the Glade, the Runners here had the job of doing patrols within a 5km radius from the center of the settlement and of course, mapping out the island and in general exploring it for potential expansion locations.

Frypan was made Keeper of the Cooks. He was in charge of using the available resources they had to prepare the meals for everyone in the settlement, alongside anyone else he thought could be good cooks or were interested in becoming one.

Jorge was made Keeper of the Sailors. Being an Ex-WCKD Berg Pilot made it that Jorge had much experience on operating vehicles. It made sense that he would be made into the trainer of people who wanted to become sailors with the purpose of coastal patrols and fishing.

Brenda was given the role Keeper of the Defenders. Due to her impressive combative skill, the others and herself (though reluctantly) agreed that she would train anyone interested in hand-to-hand and armed combat, eventually creating a small group of people who would be able to defend the island from any (potential) invaders.

Harriet and Vince were given advisor roles. Should the leader of the settlement be gone or too incapacitated to lead, the two of them could come and take over until the leader was well enough. They were essentially secondary opinions as well to the development of the village.

Aris was given the Keeper of Knowledge role. He was responsible for cataloguing and noting down every event and every piece of knowledge they had. He was also told that if they ever did have a school, that he'd be a teacher.

Sonya was given the Keeper of Resources. Her task was to keep track of the resources available to the village. She also had the task of organising activities that resulted in gathering resources, such as farming and logging.

Gally was given his old role of Keeper of the Builders. He alongside anyone he could tell was physically able and anyone interested would be the ones to plan and build the houses.

Finally, Thomas. While he was out recovering, they had decided to make him the Chief of their settlement. They knew he'd probably fight against it, but they also all knew and believed in Thomas' leadership skills. It's his leadership and stubborn attitude that had gotten them all this far anyways.
