Promise

A day and a night passed. Draco got more feelingless. He just wanted to take care of her, but he couldn't. It didn't matter how much he tried. He wanted to take her home. Home to her parents, to see her happy one last time. One last time before death. He didn't hope to live anymore. He only wanted to give her whatever she wanted.

Freedom?

Her family?

Safety?

She deserved them. She only didn't have them because of him. Because she saved him. He hated himself because of this. Hermione came out of the room, her wet hair flying in the air. She looked at him, more like memorizing. He looked over at her. She wore a tight black shirt and a blood-red legging.

It was like, she wanted to say something. Like she wanted him to understand. "Do you want to say anything?" He said. She turned her head to the kitchen and back at him. She cried, for sure. It was obvious from her red eyes. "Yes," She said. "You have to promise me you won't say no."

"Let me guess, I won't like it?"

"No."

"What?"

"If Voldemort found us, you need to promise me you'll tell him I'm your hostage."

Draco stood up sharply. 'What on earth is she talking about?' He thought. No word came out of his mouth. Hermione's tears started to fall. He would say no. "But_

"Please, Malfoy."

"He will kill you." Draco's voice was trembling. "I have no one," Hermione said. A quiet sob left her mouth. "If you die, your parents will die as well. No one will cry for me if I die." Hermione cried, "You have to promise me."

"I won't. I can't lose you."

"Please_

"If you die, I will die too."

Hermione now looked straight into his grey eyes. A shade of sadness now filled them. "You hate me. You always did."

"I don't hate you."

"Please, Malfoy. If I'm your friend promise me."

It felt like everywhere around them was on fire. Everywhere was burning them, except where they stood. Just one of them could survive. "Malfoy, promise me," Hermione begged. Draco opened his mouth slightly. Nothing.

He came closer to her and tried to touch her shoulder, but she stepped back. This time, she was feeling less. No more tears. "If you don't promise, I'll hex you. I will obliviate you." Draco looked at her, with a clear sadness that rippled in his eyes. "Will you promise?" She threatened. Hermione screamed. "I-I_

"Will you?" She said, taking her wand out and pointing it at him. "Promise." She was putting a lot of pressure on him. The most she could. "I promise," Draco said. He wrapped his hand slowly around hers and pulled her into his hug. She threw her wand and cried in his arms. None of them knew what would happen. "I love you, Malfoy." She said, but not the way Draco thought, "You are my only friend."

'I wish I never was.' He thought while kissing her hair. He sighed. She let out a loud sob, which made Draco's heart stop beating for seconds. It was very painful. Both his hands were around her body, holding her. Wasn't this all a nightmare? He wished it was. It was so much to heal. For both of them. They were only 20...

She was too young to die. "Don't worry, okay?" Hermione sobbed, "Everything will be fine." Draco couldn't even talk. He caressed her hair softly. She just sobbed in his arms, until when she became really quiet. She was sick of everything.

In the middle of the night, a letter arrived. It was from Narcissa.

'Dear H and D,

Hope you are doing well. Katie said everything about you two, but she didn't know H. She said Lizzie, and Voldemort didn't understand. You guys should move. I obliviated Katie. You should leave. Very quickly.'

Hermione squeezed Draco's arm. "We won't leave; not anymore." She threatened. Draco looked into her_once innocent_eyes. "I'm sick of running away." Draco closed his mouth and nodded. "You need to let me go," Hermione said. Draco shut his eyes and leaned back on his seat. She let go of his arm and stood up.
