Humming. My whole body is humming. I honestly feel like skipping down the halls of the ICU. Which would be bad because there are dying and recovering patients here and that would be disrespectful. But god, I just did fucking brain surgery. I obviously didn't do the actual cutting but I suctioned. I suctioned blood from a brain that was open on the table. I was a freaking brain surgeon today.

I'm pretty sure I'm shaking. Or bouncing. I'm not sure exactly what is going on but there is a lot of adrenalin happening. Because of the brain helped operate on. I feel like I'm high. Not that I've ever been high before because doctors don't get high cause it's all bad for you. I've definitely never done weed before. That would be irresponsible. Wait. Why am I lying in my own thoughts, weed is great. But not as great as this bouncing adrenalin high thing I'm feeling right now.

"Meredith!" I heard a voice call from a room.

"Hey!." I turned around and entered the room with a wide grin on my face.

"Oh oh. I got this. You have been missing me like crazy because for some reason you refused to visit me in the past week, but now you are extraordinarily happy to see me?" He asked the a smirk on his face.

"Really close, but actually, I just did brain surgery. I brain surgeoned." I smiled wildly. "Or I brain suctioned but suctioning is important."

"Congratulations." He smiled widely. "Suctioning is very important."

"I know because I did it. I suctioned a brain." I said as I sat down at the foot of his bed.

"So are you going to go into neuro?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I don't know, maybe. Although I heard only really lame people who like to get hit by trucks go into neuro so I'm really not sure." I rolled my eyes.

"No there you are most definitely wrong. Neurosurgeons are actually the coolest surgeons and it's widely known that they are the best at sex." He responded very seriously.

"Oh I'm not sure that's true." I stuck my head up in the air.

"It is." He nodded.

"I guess you'll just have to prove it." I said leaning towards him with a smirk on my face.

"Really?" He said mirroring my smirk.

I leaned in even closer. "No." I laughed then leaned away.

"You are a cruel evil woman." He laughed shaking his head.

"I am not. I'm a surgeon. I save lives. That makes me not cruel." I said proudly.

"I guess." He laughed.

"Plus i-" I waved my hand over his body, "Don't know what your injuries are or whatever."

"I had brain surgery." He smiled sadly.

"What kind of brain surgery?" I asked nervously.

"The kind where they aren't sure if I still have dexterity in my hands." He said.

"Oh." I breathed.

"It's okay as long as there is a pretty surgical intern to cheer me up." He said.

"Derek-" I shook my head.

"There's nothing I can do about. I just need to get out of the hospital. Four more weeks." He smiled.

"Do you have- I mean, I haven't really been around but do you have people who come and visit you?" I asked.

"Nope. I haven't actually told anyone that I'm here." He shrugged.
