"Di,Bro where are you?" shouted Kuhu at the top of her voice.
"Uff Pyaar ke dushman" mumbled Arjun softly.
"Coming Kuhu,Did you said something?" replied Shriya.
"Me? Not at all" said Arjun chuckling softly.
"I have won a couple tickets for Manali..will you please go ahead with Bro?" said Kuhu in one breath.
"Wov, that's great news. But,Jun is busy with new branch at Mumbai. Maybe we won't go" said Shriya.
"Kunal will handle it for a week. You do your packing Shriya" said Suwarna with a smile.
He sighed as he entered his house. Tired, he dropped his keys in the bowl beside the door and his briefcase on the table as he sat on the sofa, massaging his head. He glanced at the grandfather clock that adorned their living room. Half past one. No wonder the house was silent. Everyone must be sleeping. This month was gruelling for him as his company had opened another branch in Mumbai. And although everyone congratulated him on stepping up yet another rung on the ladder of success, it was very tiring.
The only thing that would be able to help him get rid of the migraine was a good night rest. Bleary eyed his made way past his bedroom to check on his mom, who had Sona not been his life, he was sure would be awake, worrying. He smiled a little as he found her sleeping peacefully.
"Aaj kal bahut late ho rahe ho aap Mr.Goenka" Said she, looking up for her book as he entered their room, switching off her bedside lamp and switching on the room's.
"It's Jun for you by the way. Sorry." He said apologetically, loosening his tie.
"You know how it is na." She gave a reluctant smile. "I'll bring your food, you go change."
"I am so not in the mood to eat!" He groaned as he opened his closet
"Mr.Goenka" Shriya said warningly, showing all the signs of going into one of her speeches of proper nutrition.
"Jun." He corrected her as he headed off towards the washroom. "Accha fine."
He sat in silence, savouring his very late dinner as he heard her ramble off her days proceedings. Now that his mother was nursed back to proper health, she had found it pointless to sit around the house all day. So she went on job hunting.
Arjun had tried to recruit her as his office's nutritionist but she refused. And after countless heated discussions later, he found out that reason she refused the position was because she did not want to be known for leeching off her fiancee, she wanted to make a stand of her own. When he learned of this, his respect of her only increased. As he finished his food, he carried his plate to the kitchen, depositing them in the sink as she followed him, still talking about her day. He washed his hands as he looked at her properly for in what seemed like ages. There were dark circles under her eyes, undoubtedly from overworking and waiting up for him. He smiled slightly as he leaned forward and pecked her forehead, pleasantly surprising her.
"What was that for?" She asked, giggling slightly.
"Aise hi. Mann kia." He said simply, shrugging.
She smiled as she kissed him back. He hummed in satisfaction as he touched his forehead to hers. "You are a very good kisser Mrs Goenka."
She laughed. "Learned from the best."
"I am very sleepy." She yawned and took his hand.
"Ohkay Sweetheart, you go to the room. I will be there " said Arjun.
He switched off the lights to the kitchen and dining room as they headed upstairs. She pulled back the duvets and immediately curled up on the bed. He chuckled as he cuddled up next to her, his face resting in the crook of her neck.
"Hmm." He hummed as he drifted off to a peaceful sleep.
Her arms accomplishing what his sleeping pills could not.
