//Look, I'M REALLY SORRY. Here you go though, a brand new chapter, love you all, they'll be coming out at the speed of sound from now on <3

"What did you want?" Eli asked, reaching her hand out towards the misty silhouette, wanting to pat him on the shoulder. However, to her shock, her hand went right through Lyari, and the shape dissolved into mist. "What the fuck?"

With her attention diverted, Lyari shot up from behind Eli, and Eli was left with no time to react as Lyari slammed himself into her. Eli stumbled, and the weight of her armour carried her further. She tried to regain her balance, but as her foot came down, it met no resistance, and she toppled over the edge.

She was falling.

The sound of the wind whishing past her and the dew drops from the mist shooting past her face and whipping it in the process overwhelmed Eli's senses.

She kept waiting for the ground to meet her, she kept waiting for a jagged rock to pierce her right through the heart, to sever her spine, or a flat surface to wait for her and let her shatter atop it.

What a lame way to die. Eli had always imagined herself dying in battle, and she had been ready to die several times throughout her life. But no. She was going to die by getting pushed off a cliff by her boyfriend's ex.

It had been seconds already, which was a long time for falling. Just how high was this cliff? Eli knew the longer she fell, the more terrified she got and the more gruesome her remains would be. She didn't wish for her friends to find her as a mush of broken bones and blood. She hoped she'd land on a jagged rock, it seemed like a less painful solution, and looked more bad-ass, at least.

It must've taken her another second, or even two, to realise that the wind whishing past her had slowed, and the sensation of falling was gone. She felt like she was just lying down, her armour falling heavily onto her chest. Maybe she was dead.

Eli couldn't see anything around her – it was all mist, but when she stuck her arm down below her to feel for the ground, her heart skipped a beat, because she was not on the ground.

She was, somehow, suspended in mid-air.

The realisation felt like something snapping inside her brain, and just like that, she was falling again.

Except that this time, she barely had the chance to register it and feel terrified, because it was over instantly: a quick thump, a bit of pain on her behind, and it was over.

Eli took a few moments to breathe. She took a deep breath, and then another deep breath.

And then, she was angry.

Anger perhaps wasn't the right way to describe the storm of fury which had bult up inside of Eli's heart and threatened to spill out at any moment. Eli was murderous, and she could see red, and only red.

It didn't take much effort for Eli to call her dragon to her – she needed Avilith to get out of her situation. Eli couldn't see much, but by feeling around she concluded that she was on a very tiny ledge, and was afraid to even get up.

After a few minutes of waiting and unsuccessfully trying to figure out how in the world she managed to get suspended in mid-air, a part of her ledge decided to fall off, and Eli couldn't even hear it hit the bottom.

That was when another wave of fear and anger overwhelmed her, and she decided to that the challenge didn't matter, fuck it, and slipped out of her heavy armour, dropping it off the ledge afterwards, along with the metal bracelet. She couldn't risk the weight bringing the whole ledge down, since whatever had saved her life before sure wasn't going to do it again.
