I didn't bother taking a plane to my destination, as I wanted to be alone with my thoughts. A part of me couldn't believe that I didn't take Dad with me. I wanted him to come with me, but he wanted me to be safe. He didn't want the pack to think anything was up. Which feels kinda stupid considering now that I'm heading across the country.

I wonder what he is going to tell them when they figure out I'm gone. I furrowed my brows worried that they would hurt him if he didn't tell them my location. But if there was anything stronger than a pack's "bond" and so-called "loyalty". It's my dad's allegiance to his family. He would care for his family first. And always first. That used to include the pack as they became his family. But after hearing what they did. I can't imagine he thinks the same way anymore.

MANY HOURS LATER

I let out a yawn as I drove down I-80. The sun was starting to set giving the sky and a bright gold & pink color. The trip would take a day and 18 hours to get where I was going. I let out another yawn before getting off at the next exit and heading to the nearest motel.

I pulled the car into the parking lot and slowly exited the vehicle, closing the door and locking it. I made my way to the lobby entrance with my pillow in hand as I walked in to find a cute teenage girl who was currently bored at the front desk. "Can I help you?" She asked unenthusiastically with her chin in the palm of her right hand. "I need a place to—excuse me." I started as I yawned once more. "I need a place to stay for the night." I restated. She looked me over before shrugging her shoulders and turning around. She plucked a set of keys off a hook in the wall and slid them across the counter. "Room 3B." She said. "Second floor, third door on the right." She stated. "I don't have to pay?" I asked. She shook her head with a shrug. "Do you want to?" She voiced. "Not really, no." I answered. "Alright then." She said. "Thanks." I sounded. "Whatever." She countered before heading into the back and closing the door behind her.

I left the main lobby and moved up the stairs with my hands in my jacket pockets. I trudged slowly down the floor hearing slight noises coming room 2B. I paused for a moment before shaking my head and entering 3B, locking the door behind me. It was nicer than I thought it'd be. But given how I didn't really care about the quality of the motel when I first entered, it didn't matter to me now what the room looked like.

I toed my sneakers off and sat on the edge of the bed before rubbing my face with the palm of my hand. I let out a sigh before lying back onto the full mattress bed. I closed my eyes before hearing a thud against the wall behind me, followed by rather questionable sounds from a woman. I wrapped the pillow around my head to drown out the noise before drifting asleep.
