I smiled at Xavier which he didn't reciprocate. Instead he glared at me as he rushed over. He gripped his hands by his side and clenched his jaw. "Xavier," I cheered, raising up my hands. He smiled at me which I knew was fake by how quickly it dropped. "Save it. Who do you think you are?" He asked, crossing his arms. Muscles rippled around his arms. His height overshadowed mine, which made me want to melt into the floor.

"Excuse me, I asked a question," he says, waving his hand.

I pout at his rudeness. "What did I do?" I asked.

I don't how but I could somewhat feel him become calm when he sees my reaction to his "welcome."

"Look, I think it's a messed up move to write me a letter dissing me. Then not calling or even texting after leaving."

I give him a muddled look. "Wait, what letter?"

He gives me a puzzled look as well. "What do you mean what letter?" He asks.

"The one you where you called me a dick head and that you never wanna see me again," he adds.

"Wait a minute. I never sent you a letter. In fact, the reason I haven't talk to you was because you didn't answer them. So, I left you alone."

He shakes his head and rolls his eyes. "Excuses. I've sent you plenty of letters. Not once have you sent any. Plus I called and texted. You changed your number."

I hadn't known he was trying to contact me. If I knew, things would have been different now.

"Xavier, you've gotta...."

"Save it. If things had been different who knows what could have happened. I guess we'll never know now, huh?"

Xavier walks off, avoiding me. I walk out of the building, strapping the food to the bike.

My heart was broken —  a beautiful friendship had just ended and I wasn't able to fix it. I knew this would eat me up inside.

When I got home, I rushed into my room. I showered and quickly changed into some more comfortable clothes. My body ached from the bike. Though my house was a bit close, I still had to come from the market, to the construction building, to my house. It was a lot of work.

My mother called from the kitchen. I rushed downstairs, huffing. I made sure to be extra quiet knowing she could hear anytime.

As I walk into the kitchen , I see Sammy eating a bowl of cereal and watching a cartoon. He was now a teenager so he's been acting up a bit. He isn't as needy as he used to be. He's so closed off now. It's kinda sad. I pecked his head before stepping on a stool.

She places a burger in front of me. "I've got some fun news," she announced, clapping her hands.

"We've got a wedding to cook for. I need help with carrying things. Knowing your cooking skills, I'm fine by self," My mother chuckled. I scoffed and rolled my eyes.

"I'll help but that was rude. It was nice to laugh for a bit."

She tilts her head. "What's wrong, hon?"

Some how I could feel my eyes begin to sting but I quickly shut that mess down. "HA, I'm fine. I'm good. I met Xavier and he doesn't want me in his life and that's fine." I slightly smile at my mom.

"Are you sure you're ok?"

I sniffled a bit and shook my head. "No." I let out a hard sigh. My mother embraced me into a hug, rubbing my sides. "Breathe in and out," she cooed. She caressed my cheeks and kissed my head.

"It's ok. It's ok to cry. Your feelings are valid." She rubs my arms and presses her head against mine. I wipe my tears and bite my lip from any noise escaping it. "Ok, I'll make your favorite. Red velvet cupcakes." My mother cheered. I let out a short laugh before returning back to my state.

"I'm fine with that. I could go for some cupcakes."

My mother nods before, collecting some items. As she does, I go upstairs to lay my bed. I placed on some music to get the thought out of my head. But I couldn't seem to not think when Xavier walked into his bedroom, shirtless. A towel wrapped around his waist as he strolled around his room. My mouth dropped when I see his towel being removed from his waist. I see his butt as he walked into the closet. Scared and afraid, I shut the curtains before I could even see his front side.

Heat rose upon my cheeks and I couldn't seem to keep quiet. I was letting out loud giggles throughout the whole night. It quickly took my mind off of things.
