MEL

Tony and I arrive at Fury's office, me beaming with excitement while Tony can barely keep an eye open, he's still in his second cup of coffee. Funny how he was on full alert interrogating Steve and me this morning.

"Starks, good morning," Fury says from his chair at his desk. I notice a few files placed in them and a small black box. From experience, I just hope it isn't a bomb or something lethal.

"Good morning, Fury," I say while my brother grunts. Dramatic. We walk towards his desk as he stands up taking a file in his hands.

"So, Amelia, last night the boss and I have decided to include you in the Avengers Initiative," Fury starts.

"Boss?" I murmur towards Tony, confused. Wasn't Fury the boss?

"Capsicle" Tony shrugs and I nod.

"Focus on me" Fury speaks up. He opens the file and flips through the pages. Is that my file? "Five years ago was your first mission which you led successfully in order to save SHIELD hostages," He flips to another page "Then you helped track double agents betraying SHIELD" He flips through a few more pages before closing the file "After many more missions, you successfully got the orb with the Power Stone to the Avengers Tower, and not only that, also protected it when HYDRA agents invaded."

"That's my sister!" Tony whispers proudly.

Fury reaches for the black box that is next to the files and opens it revealing a gold cross pen and the Avengers pin that I've noticed Steve carries on his left suit sleeve "You have earned this with your dedication and sacrifice on each and every mission you've been a part of" He picks up the red and light grey pin and hands it to me. He takes the pen and slides a sheet of paper towards me. Only two signature spaces, one of them being mine. I take the pen and glide it above my name, making it official. Well, almost, there's still one signature left.

"Once Rogers signs this you'll be an official Avenger, Miss Stark. Congratulations" He shakes my hand and I gladly take it. "Sorry we couldn't have a big event, although we know you don't like that"

I chuckle "I really don't. Thank you so much," I say not able to contain my smile. I hear a sniffle beside me. "Are you crying?" I ask Tony in disbelief.

Tony blinks rapidly wanting to contain his emotional tears "It's morning allergies, Mel, just morning allergies"

I laugh "Well, we better get going" I take a few steps back "Bye, Fury." I tell him before turning around and walking towards the door with my brother by my side.

I feel the Avengers pin in my hand and I still can't believe it. Not that it was a life goal or anything, but being part of this team, of these heroes, changes everything. I never really wanted to be a hero, I've never seen myself as one. Sure, my ability already makes me not so ordinary, but this isn't going to missions on a weekly basis, now I get to save the world, with my brother, and his other family pretty much.

When I open the door I'm taken out of my thoughts because a body bumps into me. A big muscles type of body. I almost drop my pin in the process. I look up to meet Steve's bright blue eyes and my heart jumps. That was probably because of the bumping, right?

"Hi" He smiles actually showing his perfect teeth. Are they perfect? Maybe not, but I could look at that smile all day. Wait, huh?

"Hi," I say returning a half-smile. Am I nervous right now? No. I think...

"Go sign so that my sister can officially wear that pin," Tony tells Steve rushing him into the office.

Steve laughs "Alright I'm going, see you later, Mel" He waves and I wave back, still in a daze.

Tony, still smiling, goes ahead of me, and when he notices I'm not following him, he turns "He took your breath away?" He smirks.

Regaining my composure, I roll my eyes at him "You're ridiculous " I start walking catching up to him.

"First annoying, now ridiculous, next I'm gonna be right, just you wait"

I shove him on the shoulder and he just laughs.

It's never good when he's right.
