CATS POV:

Isla grabs my hand as she leads me into the dark cinema doors.

I'm wearing a simple short dress with a pretty pattern on it which apparently "accentuates my eyes" and a pair of strappy sandals. My hairs down and slightly curled at the ends and it comes down to my waist.

"He's hot," Isla says bluntly about the cashier as we come closer.

I look up as we walk in. His face is freckly with striking emerald eyes and he has a tall lanky body.

I'm surprised Isla likes him.

She moves up to him, "I'll have two movie tickets to see The Conjuring, jumbo popcorn and your number please."
She places down a twenty dollar note on the counter with a wink.

I can't help but burst out laughing at the sight of the cashiers face.

He's a blubbering mess as he takes the money and gets the popcorn and tickets.

"Hey hot shot! I've got a pen here if you need one," Isla calls to him.

He nervously writes down his name and number and hands it to Isla, his cheeks a dark shade of red.

"Thanks Sam," she says unashamed, and we walk into the screening giggling our heads off.

"Oh my god, that was so scary!" I exclaim as the credits roll on the screen.

My eyes are wide and my knuckles white from clenching the arm rests.

"It was awesome! What about the bit where she went flying around the room! That was hilarious..." Isla drags on about the movie and I look around.

There weren't many people in the cinema. Just a few adult couples and teenagers.

There was this one couple of teenagers who were making out for the whole movie and someone had to turn around to tell them to shut up because they were making loud, sucking noises.

I found myself laughing and Isla had punched me in the shoulder, intensely into the movie.

As we walk back to the car, Isla looks back and winks at the cashier. She holds up a gesture that supposedly looks like a phone and mouths "call me" which ironically has me in hysterics.

I wipe a tear from my eye as his cheeks blush and he hastily averts his gaze.

"He was totally checking you out." I say, settling myself in the leather seat of her beat-up car.

She laughs and bites her lip thoughtfully.

"Do you think he would be one to get emotionally attached?"

"Too clingy? No..." I say, unsure.

Isla laughs and backs out of the parking lot.

"So, how long are you staying at Kyle's for?" She says conversationally.

"The whole summer." I say.

"Whoa, that's a long time to be in the same house as that boy." She looks over at me wide-eyed.

"He can't be that bad."

"Yeah, well let's just say he's a little...temperamental," she says and I raise my eyebrows, "He doesn't like to be experiencing the same thing for too long. He gets sick of things quickly...and changes his opinions and moods regularly."

I consider what she's saying. I hardly have anything to do with Kyle, I'm sure his "temperamental" demeanour will not effect me.

I don't say this to her, instead I look out the window to the main street of the small town, Chelan.

According to Isla's previous rants, the town is little-known to the States and people mostly come through to look at Lake Chelan; a huge lake situated at the edge of town.

I stare at the almost identical shop fronts and the light spilling onto the road from the still-open stores.

The place has an almost warm and homey feel, unlike the pretentious bustling of New York, where I live.

Yes, I live in New York, or The Apple as some like to call it.

The city where people come to life, achieve their life ambitions, a place where tourists dreamily visit and stars start their rise to fame.

Okay, maybe that's Los Angeles but close enough.

I don't like to mention I live in New York. Probably because the majority of people will judge I haven't had a normal education or that I've grown up in a dangerous neighbourhood.

I yawn and rest my forehead against the window. I haven't had a good sleep the last couple of nights and I've been waking up, looking and feeling like a zombie.

"Hey, are you okay?" Isla says, breaking me from my thoughts.

"Yeah, just thinking." I say giving her a tight smile.

She returns it and looks like she wants to say something, but doesn't.

When we get back to Isla's, Alice is at the door with her hands on her hips.

I swallow nervously.

"And where have you been?" She says as Kyle and Renée appear behind her.

Renée steps forward and she repeats the question with her cold eyes.

Quite scary, really.

"I...I...um-" I stammer on my words.

"We went to see a movie, had a little fun. Catarina here had every guy checking her out. How hot does she look?" Isla saves me.

Although, I'm pretty sure this answer isn't going to save anything.

Renée looks embarrassed by her daughters words and she glares at her, but Isla chews her gum and keeps smiling.

An awkward silence falls over us.

Alice throws her hands up and sighs, exasperated, and I feel sorry for her. I honestly thought Isla told them both where we were going.

"Come on, we're leaving." Alice says as she pushes past the door frame and mumbles an apology to Renée.

Renée walks out, grabs a protesting Isla and drags her inside.
My eyes flicker to Kyle who's following his mother to the car and I get frustrated at the smirk he has on his face.

Unfortunately, I realise with a jolt of annoyance;

He looks even sexier with a smirk.
******************************

Really short chapter, sorry. I wrote this as a kind of filler/introduction of Isla.

Hope you're enjoying this story!
