⚔Chapter 17⚔

-Mizumi's POV-

"MIZUMI!!!!!!"
"KYA!"
"GET BACK HERE!"
*sigh* The black haired mage glanced boredly at her friends, ignoring the protests of the phoenix guild's members. She turned back to the waitress in front of her;
"Shouldn't you do something about that?" The pink girl asked,
"Nah, don't worry about them. We can handle it later Lira." She replied.
"Synthia~" Shizuka whined, approaching her.
"Hey Yuka, Sumi! What's up?" Syth turned in time to see Anika crash straight into me as I stopped.
"Have you heard? Lira wants to have a singing competition~" The snow mage complained, ignoring us.
"Ooh she does?" I brightened up, shielding my head from Anika's flaming fists.
"Yeah, but Nasumi doesn't wanna do it!" Nasumi shook her head, glaring at Shizuka.
"Cause I'm a bad singer!!" She wailed dramatically.
"Well the competition is going to be held right now! Who told you guys it was gonna be a surprise~" The two god slayers sweat dropped, a flashback of them peeking at Lira's notebook appeared in both girl's heads. They shrugged innocently.
"I'll tell the guild right now!" Lira announced, winking at her five paniking guildmates.

"Everyone, we're having a singing competition between the guild's female members! First up will be..." She pulled a name out of a hat, "Anika Sayomi!"
Anika groaned, although she still got on stage. Lira pulled another sheet of paper out of a different hat then whispered something in Anika's ear, laughing as she left the blue haired demon slayer in the spotlight.
( I'll write using English characters & if I know them, English words although these are Japanese songs. I'll also say the song's name / where I found it )

Without a choice, Anika had to sing.

After the song was finished, Anika stepped down & walked cooly back to us, her eyes were closed so it was obvious how agitated she really was.
'The look on her face is priceless!!' I thought, covering my mouth with my hand to avoid laughing.
"Mizumi! You're up next~" Lira sang, as I reached her she told me the song & I nodded.

Once I had finished, I returned to my friends. Grinning unlike Anika had been.
Synthia had to go next, she sung Snow Fairy. Shizuka went after her; singing Wasurenai Hibi. Nasumi going last, she argued for about 10 minutes, but eventually was forced to perform.
The girl stood on stage, glancing around nervously. Then she sung;
"katachi no nai kimochi wasurena you ni

The rest of us just stared, dumbfounded. Once she was finished, Nasumi hopped off the stage & we rushed up to her.
"Sumi-chan!! I had no idea you could sing like that~" I told her, grinning at the white haired earth mage. She smiled simply & shook her head, a slight blush creeping into her cheeks.
"I don't really like to sing in public..." She murmured in reply. Anika scoffed, giving her a playful glare.
"Don't like to sing in public?! Well why the heck not? You're a great singer!" She retorted.
We spent the next ten minutes arguing & laughing like this while the rest of the guild had their turns. Eventually Lira got to her feet & announced the results.
"In third place with 10 votes, is Katsumi who sung Maware Maware." A chorus of cheers & clapping erupted from the croud.
"Second place with 13 votes, is Isami. She sung Startear." More people clapped for the young purple haired re-quip mage.
"Lastly; first place with 17 votes is Nasumi~!" Lira chimed, the guild exploded in applause; Anika laughed & whistled at their friend as she took her place on stage, face flushed the brightest shade of pink I've ever seen from her. She took the prize money -we didn't actually expect a prize!- which was just a bit too much for such a casual event. (20 000 Jewel!)

--time skip--

Nasumi laughed as Anika & I reinacted the day's events, collapsing on the ground laughing before we could finish after Anika's impression of mistress.
"T-that sounds n-nothing like her!!" Syth choked out, falling back against the wall from where she stood by the T.V. We just laughed & waved it off, trading our act for a calming game of Go.
A lot of people say that Go is for old folk, but I've always loved board games & this is one of my favourite!
"Of course you'd win Mizu!" Shizuka complained as we replaced the stones in the small bowls.
"Want a hint?" I asked, grinning.
"Yeah?" She looked at me hopefully,
"Well a really good strategy that I use often, start in the middle then mimic your opponents movements, you can't slip up or it won't work. The trick works really well against not-so-good players!" I laughed as her expression became confused, then offended, then it looked like she was stuck mid-thought. "I'm joking~" I slowly started to stop laughing, "although it is a good trick & works well against people who haven't played much of the game." I advised, winking at the blonde 15-year old.
"Guys~~ Lets get to bed, I'm tired." Nasumi groaned, covering her mouth as she yawned.
"Okay." Anika & I agreed, Syth & Yuka just went silently to their sleeping bags. We were all staying in Sumi's room that night.
"Night!" Anika called, a couple murmurs were heard in reply other than my own.
"Minna, Oyasuminasai."
