Violet walked into the kitchen, her mom standing in front of the stove, cooking breakfast.

"You wanted to talk?" I asked, standing in the doorway, leaning against the wall.

"I know what time you came home last night." She said, with anger and disappointment in her voice. So pretty much her normal voice.

"You need to learn that there are consequences to your actions Violet." She continued.

"I know.." I muttered.

Violet's mom, Joyce, sighed and continued to cook breakfast.

"Breakfast is on the table." Joyce said.

Violet crossed her arms.

"I'm not hungry, i'll get a snack or something at school."

Joyce sighed again.

"Bill is driving you to school today, you will be nice, you will be respectful, and you will say thank you." She said sternly.

"You gotta be shitting me." I muttered to myself.

"What was that?" Joyce asked angrily.

"Nothing...just...whatever."

"I will never understand why you and him can't just get along." Joyce questioned.

"Because he's a dickhole!" I exclaimed.

"He's a good man and he cares about you!" Joyce assures her.

"Dad was a good man!" I blurted out.

Joyce was silent.

"I--i'm glad you still have your father in your heart, but you need to make room for other people too."

"I do! Just not him! Seriously mom out of all the men in the world you could've married you picked the one with biggest stick in his ass!" I shouted.

"That- that's not fair! Just for once in your life Violet, think about someone other than yourself!" Joyce shouted back at her.

There was a painful silence, Joyce's words stung Violet.

"He's outside waiting, go on."

Violet groaned and rolled her eyes, then headed to the front door.

"I love you, Violet." Joyce said almost sadly.

"I love you too, mom."

Violet left the house and walked toward the dark blue car in the driveway.

She walked up to the passenger side door and hesitated for a moment before opening it and getting inside.

Bill looked at Violet and huffed.

"Why does it always take you women so long to get ready?"

"We're hoping you men leave without us." I snap back at him.

Bill glared at Violet and drove off to school.

It was silent the entire ride, just how Violet preferred.

Bill slowly pulled up to the curb, right in front of the school campus.

Violet got out of the car and looked at Bill.

"Uh...thanks." I hesitated.

"Don't use that sarcastic tone with me!" Bill ordered.

"I...wasn't..." I say slowly.

"Just shut the damn door, Violet."

Violet glared at him gave the door a good slam.

Violet gave Bill the good ol' finger as he drove away.

Violet suddenly remembered what Ashley had texted her and quickly ran toward the campus building.

As she entered the building, she looked around trying to remember which way the drama room was.

She went left, dodging all of the students walking around her as she hurried.

Out of breath, she stopped at the drama room and walked in slowly.

She saw a few kids hanging around reading, listening to music, and just chatting.

Violet examined the room as she walked around, looking for Ashley.

Ashley was nowhere to be seen, Violet glanced over at the dressing rooms, assuming she was in there.

Violet walked in and saw Ashley with no shirt on.

Violet froze for a moment, staring at Ashley.

Ashley gasped and turned around, startled.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed.

"Jesus, you almost gave me a heart attack!" Ashley laughed.

Violet chuckled nervously.

Ashley reached for her shirt and put it on.

"Oh, could you hand me my belt? It's over there in my bag. Ashley smiles and points over to her bag, sitting in the other room.

"Yeah, sure." I stutter.

Why am i sweating so damn much, my god.

Violet walks to the other room and grabs Ashley's belt out of her bag.

Violet walks back over to Ashley with her belt.

"Did you bring me flowers for my dressing room?" She jokes.

"How about a belt?"

"Even better! Thanks." She giggles.

"Yeah, uh, no problem."

Ashley finishes changing and walks back over to Violet.

"I had fun last night." Ashley smiled.

"I did too, it was cool." I say, trying to hide my nervousness.

"So...what do you say we go on a little field trip? Come on!" Ashley says as she grabs my hand, just as she did last night at the Firewalk concert.

"W-What now? Skip class?" I asked.

"Yes now! Come on!"

I've skipped school plenty of times before, but never with someone like Ashley.
