"Let's talk somewhere else" Green said, grabbing me by the arm and dragged me down the hall towards the storage area. I try to resist but his grip is like iron. He drags me into the storage room and locks the door, then he whips around. I can see fire in his eyes as he glares at me.
"What?" I demand.
"Your the imposter, aren't you?" he snarled.
My mind races. On the one hand, I could kill him, only I got 5 minutes until my cooldown is done, plus I'd rather not kill anyone else. One the other hand maybe I could talk him out of it, it could be a bit risky but I at least needed to stall him.
"No" I lied.
"You are!" he barked.
"NO. I'm not" I said, a bit more forcefully that time. "I am not the imposter, and your an idiot for saying that."
4:33 left.
"Your the imposter, I know it!" Green growled.
"Proof" I demanded.
"Well, you walked into the room with Pink, and then I walked in after you walked out, and there was no one but you!" he explained.
I almost cursed for letting myself be so foolish, but I continue with the charade.
3:55 left.
"It might have been a trick of the light" I said, though I know that my charade is failing, so I take a new card out of my deck. "Your lying, maybe your the imposter!"
3:31 left.
"I am not!"
"Yes you are!"
"No, I'm not!"
"I bet that you killed Pink!"
"I didn't kill Pink!"
"Proof?"
"Well... um..."
"Exactly, you can't come up with any because your the imposter!"
Only 2:43 left.
"What- am not!"
"Am too!"
"I'm gonna call an emergency meeting!" Green declared, storming towards the door. Before he could open the door, I reached for him and grabbed him, yanking him back.
"What is the meaning of this-"
I open the vent on the ground and throw him inside, then quickly close it so there is barely any light. I can see Green, and he can see me. His eyes widen with terror, and he quickly tries to scramble away. Cold air rushes past me as I grab him, and yank him back towards me. He struggles wildly, and I pin him down.
"I'm sorry Green, I really don't wanna kill you" I whispered.
"Your the imposter!" he gasped.
"Yep" I said.
Only 1 minute left.
"Now, since you know, I can't let you live" I said, "I'm sorry green. I really am."
Then I take out my knife.
He flickers, and then disappears.
I feel a hot stab of greed, but I push it back. This is no time for grief, I steel myself, creating little walls that would defend me from the invading emotions. The emotions are invading, making me feel worse and worse. I narrow my eyes, and picture a steel wall, and all the little invaders disappearing.
It helps a little, but not enough.
There is a beep, and I go to the mailbox. It shows a notfications. I knew what it was without even having to look at it, but I look at it anyways, just to make sure. Sure enough, it announces that Green is dead. I feel another wave of grief. Thankfully this one is smaller. My walls surrounding me push it back, and I'm safe from those emotions... at least for a few minutes.
It's dark in the vents, and cold air is rushing in my face, making my hair go wild and sting my eyes. I spit a strand of hair out, but I don't come out of the vent, it's too risky. Instead, I crawl through the vents, using a map to navigate them. Apparently I have a few perks with this job.
I crawl out of the vent, and into my bedroom. I crawl into bed, and close my eyes, hopefully I'll fall asleep.
I don't.
