Being Dib's friend wasn't terrible, Zimd decided. Dib was actually quite smart and knew a lot about space, Zim coming to learn that after Dib lectured to him about the several other planets that could possibly have other forms of life on them. Dib's passion for the unknown of space has rubbed off on Zim, the both of them pouring over space books in the library and mapping out possible planets through Dib's telescope. Zim showed Dib some of his home made technology and in turn Dib showed Zim his paranormal research. The both of them got along well, which should have been the first sign.

They were in Dib's basement when it happened, the basement having been furnished and was quite nice to hang out in. They sat at a table in the corner of the room, Zim working hard as he drew blueprints for a spaceship.

"So what Zim was thinking is-" Zim cut himself off, seeing Dib staring off and not paying attention like he usually did when they talked. "Dib-Thing?" Dib blinked and looked at him, humming in acknowledgement.

"Yeah?" He asked, straightening in his seat.

"The Dib looked distracted," Zim said, tilting his head.

Dib gave a small smile, "Sorry- I was just thinking about something" Zim gave a nod, looking over their blueprints for a small space shuttle they had designed together. Dib was silent for an unsettling amount of time before he looked at Zim. "You know- I'm not falling for it, you know."

Zim blinked, tilting his head. "Falling for what, Dib-Thing?"

"Your act. I know you're an alien." Dib said, crossing his arms. Zim sighed, this argument again.

"Zim has already told you, Zim is not an alien." Zim said and gave Dib a glare. "You have an obsession, I am not any more alien than you are." Dib gave a growl and shoved Zim out of his seat, suddenly on top of him. There was a click and a pocket knife was at Zim's throat in an instant.

"Tell me where it is" Dib said, looking down at Zim. Zim's eyes widened with fright, trying to get away, scratching at the ground and trying to get away. Dib put a knee on Zim's PAK and glared down at him.

"What do you want from Zim!?" Zim asked, squirming uncomfortably as the PAK dug into his back. "Let Zim go this instant!"

"Where are your leaders? Your planet? Your ship?" Dib asked in a frenzy of questions. "Is this why you wanted me to help with a spaceship? To get back to your leaders and destroy earth?" Zim shook his head.

"No! Just leave me alone! I am human! Please!" Zim said, terrified as Dib dug the tip of the knife into Zim's skin. "Dib-Thing-" His PAK sprung to action, the legs disarming Dib and Zim smacked his elbow into Dib's face. Dib held his nose and Zim got up, running to the door. Dib yanked on one of Zim's PAK legs and Zim toppled back, terrified as Dib stood over him with a crazed smile and the pocket knife back in his hands.

________

Dib sat in the corner of the padded room, staring off into space as he recalled the events that led him here. Zim was an alien. He knew that, he had to be. Dib knew he wasn't wrong. Faint whispering clouded his thoughts.

" You thought you could get rid of me that easily, Dib-Thing? "
