3RD PERSON
it had been weeks since chaewon saw her dream guy. it was a chilly saturday and she decided to go out on a stroll to get more teaching resources at stores nearby. she came across a decent music academy along the quiet streets. it looked rather classy with the simple interior design of black and white. the full length glass windows made it easy for chaewon to peek inside. a small hand was waving her way from the inside.
'oh? lee yeonjun?" chaewon gasped as she looked at her 4-year-old student, waving for her to come in.
chaewon pushed the glass door opened and smiled brightly at the child who ran her way. hugging the child who clung to her legs, chaewon looked around for the child's father, lee sangyeon. her eyes spotted his father talking to a guy who had his back towards her.
"oh? yeonjun's teacher," he bowed. "oh hi, mr lee. does yeonjun take music lessons?" chaewon bowed and asked, her eyes still wandered around the space.
"yes, yeonjun takes piano lessons. this is his piano teacher - a good friend of mine," he gestured to the guy he was talking to and chaewon froze. it was him. the person in her dreams and the one she had briefly met beforehand.
"ji changmin," the dimpled stranger reached his hand out to her, his eyes meeting her own. her hands clasped his loosely as he shook hers firmly.
just then, her phone rang with the name "annoying choi" displayed on her screen. she excused herself from the two, waving goodbye to yeonjun before walking out from the building.
"yah choi chaewon! come home straight away! emergency!" her brother yelled through the phone and hung up instantly.
chaewon groaned as she scurried home.
at the same time, changmin also got a text from his mother to hurry home.
-
it was close to 6pm when chaewon reached home and her parents and brother were in chaos in the kitchen.
"um what's happening?" chaewon frowned.
"girl, you better go freshen up and wear nice clothes!" chanhee pushed his confused sister up the stairs.
after a while, the chaos died down as chaewon stepped down from the stairs in a decent beige chiffon dress that stopped at her ankle. her parents smiled at her while chanhee sighed in relief as he was pleased with what she chose to wear.
"someone is coming for dinner tonight," that was all mr choi said to her when their door bell rung.
changmin on the other hand straightened up his black blazer as his parents walked towards the house. he sighed, not knowing what to expect during his time there. the door opened to reveal his old friend from school, choi chanhee. changmin's heart calmed for a bit once he saw someone he knew until the door was pushed open wide enough for him to set his gaze on the petite girl behind. it was the girl he saw weeks ago at the convenience store and also earlier today at his music academy. everyone was seated at the dining table with the girl - he had learned her name was choi chaewon - sitting opposite him.
"chaewon, you're a teacher, aren't you?" changmin heard his mother asked as the girl nodded, "changmin's a teacher too."
chaewon nodded, "a piano teacher, am i right?"
everyone seemed surprise at her response and changmin explained that they had met one another earlier today and they shared the same student.
"well that's great! you both seemed to get along well so we won't hide the news any longer," mr choi clasped his hands together, smiling brightly.
"chaewon and changmin," everyone glanced at the two," you guys are getting married!" the mothers excitedly exclaimed.
chaewon had her jaw dropped to the floor while changmin froze, unable to process the news.
"do you guys like it?"
"i think they just died"
"mum i already told you it's not the time yet, you announced it too early!"
changmin's voice cut all of theirs, "i think we should discuss it first - chaewon and i."
with that, changmin tugged on chaewon's wrist gently as he bowed to the others at the dining table. the two left the house and traveled to the nearby playground. changmin offered to get her drinks from the store next to the place while chaewon gathered her thoughts quietly.
"hey," changmin quietly greeted her, handing her the canned drink before sitting on the bench next to her.
"i don't want to get married yet," chaewon started, "but i don't want to disappoint my parents too." she frowned. changmin stayed silent, nodding at her words. "you seem like a nice guy, you really do but we barely know each other," chaewon turned to look at him who gazed at the ground. changmin was quiet so chaewon leaned back to enjoy the night sky as she drank her cold sprite.
"i don't want to disappoint my parents too," changmin trailed off, "can we agree to the marriage and start small from then on?" chaewon pondered at his suggestion at first.
"friends?"
"friends."
-
"we're back," changmin announced to the parents who were nervously pacing around.
"we.." changmin started as he looked at chaewon.
"will get married," chaewon smiled at everyone, her gaze lingered longer on changmin.
chanhee sprinted full speed at the two, tugging them into a bear hug. their parents celebrated as well. the rest of the night was filled with joyful chattering as the parents sharing memories of their younger days. chanhee had several talks with his old friend and chaewon.. she was just somewhat delightful that night. she believed that her dream of him was a great sign and change in her life.
