3RD PERSON

early next morning, chaewon was back in her family's house, packing up the last few bits of stuffs she needed to bring with her.

knock! knock!

she looked over at her door frame and her eyes met changmin's soft ones. his gaze wandered around her room, taking in the sweet scent of her air freshener and the pastel coloured room of hers. taking a seat at the edge of her bed, changmin placed his chin on his palm as he observed his wife pack her things.

"are you running away from home?" he joked in which the girl glared at him playfully.

"you're the one taking me away!" she smacked his arm, causing the lad to roll over in her bed.

changmin decided to let her be as he strolled around her cosy room. his eyes traced the picture frames on her wall and her cork board filled with colourful notes and polaroids. he chuckled slightly at her school pictures.

"changmin, i'm done packing," chaewon called out to him as she zipped up her luggage. "i'll take it to the car," he lifted her luggage up with ease before proceeding out of her room with chaewon tailing right behind.

"i'll call and visit whenever i can!" chaewon said as she hugged chanhee and her mother tightly.

"i'll take care of her," changmin bowed politely before getting into the driver's seat.

-
this is too good to be true. chaewon thought while changmin pulled up in the driveway of a two-storey house. she carried her backpack and other light things because changmin insisted to bring out the heavy ones. as soon as he unlocked the door, chaewon's jaw dropped to the ground at the sight of the interior design. it was simple and minimalist - much to her liking.

"welcome home, chaewon," changmin smiled at the girl who still stood frozen at the front door. "it's just us in this big house?" she questioned. changmin hummed as he nodded at her. "it's so pretty!" she exclaimed, wandering off further into the house. changmin could only laugh at his wife's reactions - deep inside, he was very glad that she liked the house.

changmin continued to shift heavy boxes filled with chaewon's things into the house until he heard a high-pitched scream from the second level - which made him scream too.

"changmin!" chaewon scrambled to him as soon as she saw him almost sprinting to her. "is this my room?! it's so pretty!" chaewon squealed. with a hand on his chest, changmin sighed shaking his head at the girl for giving him a shock. "do you like it?" changmin asked, and he did not have to get an answer from her to know that she in fact loved it. it was the way that she scurried into the room and dived onto the bed that reassured him.

"i'll bring up your things."

"i'll cook!"

-

first meal at home. together. all alone. just the two of them. something along the lines of those phrases made both of their hearts tingle. chaewon had on an apron as she set the table. changmin who watched her from the living room had a wide smile on his face unknowingly.

"changmin!" upon hearing his name, he quickly jolted up and marched to the dining room. "hope you like fried rice," chaewon smiled, taking off the apron. "thank you, chaewon. i'll eat everything you cook," changmin grinned as his wife sat across him. truthfully, chaewon felt bad that she could only prepare this small meal for the two of them but changmin on the other hand was more than delightful at her simple-yet-filled-with-love meal. the once empty soulless house of changmin's now bloomed into a warm, cosy house for two. the rest of the day was spent by unpacking remaining boxes and watching movies, mainly horror which changmin suggested, and more chatting about themselves.

"so how did you become a piano teacher?" chaewon asked, an ice cream in hand.

"i was going to pursue dance and maybe become a choreographer, but i wanted something more relaxing and kids are fun to work with," changmin smiled gently at her, his hand swept back the strand of her hair that was blowing in her face.

"can you take me to your work place some time later?" she timidly asked, grinning at him. changmin could only chuckle and nodded before replying," of course, i'll take you when i'm not so packed that day."

-

night came for the newly-married friends. both of them had retreated back in their rooms to wash up and prepare for bed.

knock! knock!

"come in!" changmin hollered, quickly putting away whatever messy-looking things in his room.

as soon as the door opened, chaewon's scream filled the house, joined by changmin's. "why do you have that?" chaewon pointed to the doll on his bed. "oh you mean my homie, chucky?" changmin took the doll, hugging it in his arms. "it's so cute!" he beamed brightly at the girl who was still star-strucked. "i mean with his hair tied up and his face scar-free, he does seem cute," chaewon shrugged and agreed with him.

"why are you here?" he asked, setting chucky back into his spot as changmin looked at the girl who roamed his room freely. "i wanted to say goodnight but since i'm already here, i'll just hang around for abit," chaewon stretched her arms, looking around his mostly empty room - it was furnished fully but he did not add anything else like picture frames or board.

"don't you have work tomorrow?" changmin crossed his arm, leaning back into his headboard as he watched his wife. she froze and her eyes widened at that forgotten thought.

"goodnight chaewon - close the door!" changmin exclaimed when the girl hurried out of his room.

alone in his room, he managed to carve out a smile at the thought that he would not have to be alone in this big house anymore.
