"i'll pick you up at 5pm!"

changmin had dropped chaewon off at her preschool centre. unknowingly, she seemed brighter that day - maybe because she had a husband who would send her to work.

a little child from chaewon's class had seen her teacher with a man and she scurried into the building to her class.

"i think teacher yena was right! t-teacher wonnie got married," yena sobbed.

the other 4-year-olds stared at her for a bit and in just a moment, chaos had begun. cryings, wailings, sobbings could be heard from chaewon's classroom. when she entered her class, she found her toddlers bawling their eyes out - some on the tables, some on the chairs, some rolling on the floor.

"morning friends! i see we're in a sad mood today! what's wrong?" chaewon frowned as she quickly sat in the middle of the class. the kids huddled up swiftly closer to her. none of them could speak up proper words that chaewon had to turn to yeonjun, who was the only calm one, for a proper answer

"teacher yena said you got married and they think that you would leave us," yeonjun shrugged.

chaewon shook her head, laughing lightly as she looked around at their tear-stained face. she rubbed the back of the child closest to her as she turned to talk to the class.

"friends! getting married is a good thing. it means i found a great partner to spend my life with. aren't you happy for me?" chaewon pouted.

"b-but teacher wonnie, when the princess got married, the prince takes her away!" another little voice spoke up about the book the class had read together the other day. feeling slightly amused, chaewon bit back the urge to laugh. she hugged the kids closest to her tight.

"you have met mr ji changmin, am i right? the piano teacher," chaewon started slowly as the kids nodded, "you guys loved him and he's my husband now" chaewon explained which reassured the children.

the rest of the morning, chaewon proceeded with class routines with a teeny bit of difficulty as one after one child would take turns to cling onto her. "minji, it's nap time," chaewon placed her hands on her hips as the said child refused to lay in her cot. "i'll stay with you until you sleep," chaewon offered in which the little girl agreed as she clambered onto her cot. chaewon sat in between the cots sprawled neatly around the classroom and she patted minji to sleep.

the phone notification went off.

changmin checked his watch. 4:55pm. he was on his way to pick up his beloved wife from work. changmin pulled over in the parking lot close to her workplace. his eyes wandered in search of her petite figure. there she was - sending off her children from the entrance. coincidently, chaewon turned and she saw him waiting for her. she could not hide her smile and changmin found it adorable. "i'll go first, good work today!" chaewon bowed slightly to her co-teacher before scurrying over to him. "how was work, chaewon?" changmin asked, as he opened up the passenger door for her. "great! just that-" her words were cut off when changmin felt a small tug on his coat. both of them looking down, a red-nosed child stared back up at them.

"oh! chani! what's wrong?" chaewon scrambled out of her seat to the 4-year-old. the boy pouted as he reached out towards changmin instead. changmin instinctively dropped to the child's level as he held the child's tiny hands. "will you-" chani sobbed. changmin gestured for him to go on. "will you really take teacher wonnie away?" chani sobbed even harder as he clung onto chaewon's legs. changmin, who was confused, looked at chaewon hoping that she would explain what was going on. however, she shook her head and hurried him to answer the child.

"hey chani," changmin smiled, nearing the boy slightly,"i will never ever take teacher wonnie away. i will take care of her and make sure she is eating well so she can come to school and play with you and your friends everyday!" at changmin's words, chani seemed to have calmed down. after the whole drama, chani's parents finally arrived to fetch him home.

"oh so because of the fairytale book you read with them - they think i'll take you away from them?" changmin asked, his eyes widening at the shocking incident that had happened. "yea! they were in chaos - crying, sobbing and wailing in class when i reached work!" chaewon told him as she giggled at the memory. seeing her all happy and giggly as she shared about her day made changmin warm on the inside. he liked it. he liked that chaewon was very comfortable with him. chaewon on the other hand felt safe with him - she felt like she could tell him everything.

"we're home!" changmin pulled up in the driveway of their home. the two scurried back to their rooms to freshen up before coming into the kitchen. "changmin, can you help me with making dinner?" the lad was more than happy to help out as he put on his apron. it would be a peaceful cooking session with an extra set of helping hands.

scratch that - it was a whole circus cooking with the two of them together. the kitchen was a mess as the two hurried around making dinner. "do not," changmin started, "do not splash on me!" he shrieked as dumped the cracked egg onto the pan with sizzling oil in an attempt to make some fried egg. chaewon, who bursted out laughing at him, ended up spilling some grains of the rice she was washing. fortunately, they still successfully served the deliciously made food on the dining table as both of them took their seats. "thank you for the food!" both of them exclaimed and dug into their meals, starving from the day of hard work.

both changmin and chaewon smiled, thinking that they would be beyond happy to spend the rest of their lives like this - just the two of them.
